Visiting from Manhattan! Boqueria is one of my favorite chains because the food, wine, and service have been consistent for me for the past 6-8 years. My favorites are the croquettes jamón and dátiles con beicon to start. For the main, always the paella mariscos paired with a crisp white wine.
The Dupont location did not disappoint. I got lucky with the weather in D.C. this past weekend and the weather was a beautiful and breezy 70 degree evening with not much humidity. From checking into the reservation to getting seated. Awesome and attentive service!
Kudos for the consistency in food and wine across all locations throughout different cities. Highly recommend this spot for Spanish tapas and wine!

This was an extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. After our food was delivered, the service completely disappeared. Our waitress avoided eye contact, never checked on us, and made no effort to provide even basic hospitality. The lack of attention felt intentional and unprofessional.
The food was equally unacceptable. We ordered the paella and calamari, and both were severely overcooked—burnt to the point of being inedible and completely lacking flavor. For the prices charged, the quality was nowhere near acceptable. Tried to eat the food and give it a try didn’t even finish, didn’t take it home. Ate three scoops and said no to the rest.
The restaurant itself is kept very dark, which raises the question of whether it’s meant to distract from the poor presentation of the food. Very loud, super hard to move through just to get in or out. Almost had three servers with food and drink dump in to me.
Overall, this place fails on both service and quality. It is absolutely not worth the money, and I would not recommend it.

I really wanted to love Boqueria, especially given all the positive reviews, but unfortunately the food was a major disappointment.
To start on a positive note, our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, and the service made us feel very welcome.
That said, the food just didn’t work for us at all. My husband ordered the Montado de Bistec y Chorizo, I had the ibérico mac and cheese, and we shared the patatas bravas. I’m someone who genuinely loves bold and spicy flavors, but in this case, everything felt overwhelmingly seasoned—particularly with what tasted like an excessive amount of smoked paprika. Instead of enhancing the dishes, the flavors were so intense that they became hard to enjoy.
After just a few bites, both of us started feeling pretty uncomfortable with stomach aches, and we ultimately couldn’t continue the meal. We ended up leaving most of the food untouched, asked for the check early, and left well before we had planned. It was disappointing, especially since we had been looking forward to a great dining experience.
I do appreciate the excellent service and would come back for the friendly staff and even the delicious lemonade—but unfortunately, not for the food.

Deeply disappointed with our experience at Boqueria. We waited nearly 40 minutes for the Paella Mariscos, only to receive a dish that was clearly old and had been sitting out. When we raised the concern, our waiter became argumentative and condescendingly asked if we had ever tried Mariscos before as if we didn’t know what we ordered. There was no genuine apology, no attempt to make it right. The only resolution offered was removing it from the bill, after our entire dinner had already been ruined. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was unacceptable.

The food was great, everything we ordered was really tasty, appropriately portioned, and came out in a pretty timely manner. We were pretty disappointed with the pitcher of shishito margarita that we ordered. It came about half full and made about 2.5 glasses (it was being shared between 3 people). Other pitchers of different beverages that went by seemed to be a lot more full. Our server also did not check in on us often, so once the reasonably small amount of margaritas were gone, we had to wait a while to get another drink. On the other hand, when a friend spilled his margarita nearly instantly after it was poured, she did put in for another and did not charge us for that which was nice. The menu is pretty well labeled for allergies, but there is some gluten cross contamination with the frier.
