  This is a letter I wrote to Stop & Shop about this store, but in typical corporate fashion there is no listed email address to send it to. Instead they want you to try and interact with useless AI chatbots.Instead I will mail it to the store via USPS but am also posting it here: On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 4, 2026, I arrived at the deli counter at my local Stop & Shop and took a ticket to wait in line. There were two customers ahead of me. One deli employee was assisting a customer while another came forward to help the next person. That customer had a dog sitting in her shopping cart. The employee appeared delighted by the dog and asked if he could give it a small piece of ham, which the customer agreed to. I initially assumed he would slice a piece and hand it to the customer. Instead, the employee walked out from behind the counter, fed the dog directly, stayed to pet it, and then returned behind the deli counter to slice the customer’s order - all while wearing the same gloves he had just used to touch the dog. At that point I chose not to cause a scene or embarrass the employee publicly. I simply threw my ticket away and left the department. However, this incident represents a serious lapse in basic food safety and hygiene practices. Handling an animal and then immediately returning to food preparation without removing gloves, washing hands, and putting on new gloves is clearly unacceptable in any environment where ready-to-eat food is being handled. Wearing gloves should never create a false sense of security; gloves become contaminated just as hands do and must be changed whenever they come into contact with non-food surfaces. I am bringing this to your attention because this is something that should be addressed by store leadership. I strongly encourage the Store Manager and Deli Manager to review proper food safety and sanitation procedures with their team. Customers should be able to trust that the employees preparing their food are following fundamental hygiene standards.

  It's close and clean , great produce and I would always shop here if they cut their beef in-store

  I shop at Stop & Shop regularly and have always had a positive experience. The store is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate. The produce is usually fresh, shelves are well stocked, and prices are competitive, especially with sales and rewards. The staff is helpful and courteous, whether I’m asking for help finding an item or checking out. I also appreciate the self-checkout options and convenient hours, which make shopping quick and stress-free. Overall, Stop & Shop is a reliable grocery store that meets my needs, and I’m happy to continue shopping here.
