This Safeway is consistently out of products. I am sure that this is not because I am shopping after the newly stocked shelves have been picked over. No, this is because this store NEVER stocks its shelves or just not sufficiently enough. I had the misfortune of going to this location just a week before Thanksgiving and I was only able to find the second rate products that I have learned to make due as this store for some unknown reason doesn't feel it necessary to stock its shelves throughout the day. Even when they know a holiday is approaching and customers are cleaning out their store. Unfortunately, this isn't just before holidays but at every other time of the year. I have been to this store in the morning, afternoon, evening, and before closing. Yet no matter when I get there, it appears that employees are always busy stocking shelves just not the items that people actually need. One item I couldn't replace with a second rate product was dental floss. For some reason this store made sure to restock the floss that can be dangerous to our health. But, they failed to restock the safe floss that is not hazardous to the health. In addition, the same issue can be said for toilet paper. The last time I visited almost all of the quality toilet tissue was sold out. I live a couple of hours away and it was frustrating to have to visit two separate stores for toilet tissue and dental floss. This is not surprising though because as I said before, the employees here are always busy running over customers to restock items. Just not the products that customers want or need. Not all the employees here are inept, on the contrary. The cashiers for the most part can be very polite when I am forced to go to the employee assisted checkout line instead of my preferred self checkout. But, this store needs to reevaluate the importance of restocking its products that are in demand.

Good store. Unexpected finds at a grocery store is fun. Prices seem a bit high but I’m not sure it’s their fault. Best Rx in Woodland Park for sure though.

My husband and I recently moved to Woodland Park from New Mexico and this was my second shopping trip to the local Safeway. I always bring a good supply of insulated bags for cold and frozen items as well as lighter weight cloth bags for everything else; when I place the items on the conveyor I group them together the way they should go into the bags. On my first trip everything was thrown together in insulated bags and they were so full that I could barely lift them into my car. I spent ten minutes in the parking lot redistributing items into unused bags so I could carry them into my house.
Today I mentioned to the young man that I did not want them to be too heavy and his response was “they’re not too heavy for me” and when I got to my car they were too heavy again for me and I had at least six or seven unused bags in my cart that could have lightened the load in the four that were used. When the transaction was complete I asked the cashier (who happened to be the store director) if I received my senior discount since it was the first Wednesday of the month and the store in NM offered that discount, he was not sure and had to ask someone else in the store. I was informed that the senior discount is no longer offered in Colorado but he gave it to me when I mentioned I had seen it online. I appreciate the gesture and thanked him.
Safeway has been my preferred store for many years and I am a loyal customer, but training employees in proper bagging of groceries seems to be a problem with Safeway stores in general. I always seem to have to explain to cashiers and courtesy clerks (no matter what state I am in) that the insulated bags are for cold items and that they are welcome to use all of the bags I provide in order to keep the bags from being too heavy for this 71 year old woman I don’t blame the employees. It seems like training issue.
After posting this review I noticed that the deals I had clipped did not reflect on my receipt. I had entered my phone number at the beginning of the transaction so I am not sure what may have happened. This has been my worst experience at Safeway ever.

I am so tired of this store trying to peddle expired products. The milk here is always out of date and they continue to try and unload the already expired milk. The last three times I have gone to this Safeway for milk I only found gallons and half gallons that were out of date by three days or expiring within a day. For a person that shops once a month, as I live remotely three hours away from this store, this issue is highly frustrating. Aside from the issue of milk at this store, the produce here is atrocious as well. I am never able to find decent produce that doesn't look like it has been kick through the store before it was shelved. It is extremely difficult to find produce here that isn't past its prime as well. I am seriously considering calling the local health department on this location as it is not safe to sell expired products to the public. This is a simple solution and I don't understand why this store refuses to discard its expired products and sell fresh food? The employees here, for the most part, are very polite and helpful. This issue of selling expired items is why I am forced gave this store one star as it is a constant issue as well as a health concern.
