It’s rare that my partner and I go out in Telluride or Mountain Village. We both work in the area and decided to take a half day to spend the afternoon together. Given the unusual but beautiful March weather, we decided on Tomboy Tavern so we could sit outside and enjoy the sun. The hostess met us promptly with a smile and sat us right away. Our server Liam was superb. My first drink choice was out of stock, so Liam accommodated by choosing the perfect flavor profiles I was looking for. We were just here to enjoy a drink and light snack, yet were met with professionalism and kindness. Liam made us feel just as important as any other guest spending much more than us. We’re glad there are still local places that accommodate everyone and make us feel welcome as locals. Thanks you guys!

We had lunch at this spot twice during our visit to Telluride, and for good reason! Sitting at the bar is a great move. Quick service, friendly bartenders, and great views of some TVs for watching sports. The pimento dip appetizer is really yummy, and I loved the chicken sandwich. Really cool vibes inside the space, and plenty of outdoor seating too with an outdoor bar!

This does not reflect on the restaurant. Our hostess Holly was condescending the moment we walked in the door as she looked us up and down. Tucked us in the corner. When I went to go fix our table with the shims, I saw on the ground she told me to be mindful of my chair as there was another group coming, who hasn’t even sat down yet. Did not tell the larger group anything about their chairs. Holly was an extremely disrespectful and condescending person. I would like to repeat that this has nothing to do with the restaurant as the food was great and Holly made us have a terrible experience.

We stopped at this tavern in Mountain Village and it is probably one of the coolest spots I have seen in a ski town. From a setting and location standpoint, five stars. There are two entrances, one from the village side and another from the front with outdoor seating and direct views of the slopes. You are literally right next to the action.
Inside, there is plenty of space and ample seating. Hosts greet you right away, and everything feels organized and welcoming. The menu is huge, both food and drinks, with lots of fun options. From a layout and concept perspective, this place nails it.
Where this place really goes to another level is the service and atmosphere. We were so impressed that we went twice during our stay. The first night we were taken care of by Brad, who was outstanding. Funny, attentive, engaging, and just a cool guy overall. The second night we had Wilmer, and same story. Top notch service, attentive without hovering, and genuinely enjoyable.
We also made friends with the bartender, Abel, who not only made great drinks but actually stepped out from behind the bar to chat with us. That kind of interaction says a lot about the culture and management behind the scenes. When you see staff who clearly enjoy their job and translate that energy to guests, that is leadership and culture done right.
The food was great, the drinks were solid, and going back a second night confirmed it was not a one time fluke. Two nights in a row, same level of service and quality.
If I had a place like this near home, I would be there all the time. Definitely a must visit when you are in Telluride.
