Very reliant on self-checkout. You do Safeway's job and don't even get an employee discount!

Extremely overpriced (compared to other nearby stores), falsely advertised sale prices, and extremely unhelpful staff. I was gifted a gift card from my mother for my birthday last week. I tried to use it this morning for my groceries, but couldn't figure out how to expose the PIN on the back (it said gently scratch to reveal, but was not coming off). The cashier was rude and unhelpful. I asked her to help and she said "I don't know how to use them, I have never used on here before...". And I replied, "yeah, neither have I. But these are gift cards from your store, so can you please help me or get someone else that can (manager, etc)?" Long story short: I wasted over 25+ minutes, got absolutely 0 help, and my mom wasted $100 on the gift card she bought me. Even calling the number on the back of the giftcard was a waste of time since we don't have the receipt. I will never come back here. I had been a loyal customer prior to this, buying groceries every weekend for the past 5 years, but this is the last straw. The "deals" have been slowly getting worse and worse, and the staff more and more unfriendly. I'll take my $200+/week I spend to another store that will be appreciative and helpful when I ask for it. 0/5 - do not recomend if you can avoid.
