  I've just moved into this area and decided to visit the nearest grocery. It happened to be this Safeway and I'm very glad I chose it!. The store is LARGE and clean. Staff is constantly checking prices and expiration dates. The customer service desk is staffed and the staff members overseeing the check out are courteous and helpful, all creating a fine shopping experience !

  A basic grocery store trying to fulfill the needs of Golden. They should take out the entire development block to expand and update this Safeway. As the college and community grows... they aren't. So starbucks left, why not put together a coffee shop in there? Sell a quick cheap healthy breakfast, breakfast burritos, something? It's easy for grocery stores to sit back and collect because doing only the bare minimum is such a necessity.

  I keep giving this store a chance hoping one day things get better. I have been more than patient for 15 years living in Golden. Several times we have had to return rancid meat that we bought for dinner. Veggies tonight were so bad that I cut most of it off because it was rotten. I am just wondering why Golden can’t have a good, well run Safeway? I find myself stopping at the one off Kipling in Littleton because at least they have fresh food that I can feed to my family. I am just warning anyone who thinks they can stop here for dinner please don’t because this place is UnSafeway.

  Understaffed and overpriced. Some items are 1.5-2x the price of the same items at Target or on Amazon. Usually only one or two checkout lanes are staffed at a time.

  I have had worse customer service here than I have anywhere else. I was shopping at Safeway yesterday and left my headphones at a register. I called the next day to ask if they had any headphones at the lost and found and they confirmed they had my Bose headphones. I come in around 9 pm asking for it and the guy working at the self checkout tells me they don’t have it. He ‘calls’ his manager and his manager also says there were no headphones. I tried explaining that I called earlier, however he refused to check and kept telling me to just write my phone number down. After having to insist having the manager come over, I was met with a lot of bad attitude. He stated they didn’t have it, and after having him go back and check for my headphones TWICE, he suddenly “found” them and handed it to me. Genuinely no clue what is going on with the employees who work there at night. Both the manager and cashier (glasses, tall, brown hair) were absolutely terrible to interact with.
