Walking into Frida’s Cantina feels like stepping into a vibrant tribute to Frida Kahlo: bold colors, playful touches, and just enough edge to set the tone for a fun night out.
The service? Dialed in. Attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful when navigating their very tempting margarita menu. I went all in with both the Mamasita and Papasita…no regrets. Creative, well-balanced, and dangerously easy to sip.
Chips came out warm and freshly fried (always a good sign), and the sizzling queso hit that perfect salty, melty note you hope for but don’t always get. The avocado stuffed with shrimp starter was a standout: fresh, colorful, and a nice lighter contrast before diving into the mains.
And speaking of mains… the Seafood Diablo absolutely delivered. Packed with shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid, and finished with just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the flavors.
If you’re in Durango and want something that’s a little more lively than the usual lineup, this place brings both personality and flavor. Definitely worth a stop.

Fridas has got increasingly expensive. This evening we ordered a simple burrito de carne asada meal. It was twenty dollars for each meal, so I caution you if you're looking for affordable, mexican food, don't go to friedas. The taste was okay, but their green salsa is bitter because they used tomatillos. We have honestly had better burritos in little puestacitos and food trucks. Looks like they are focusing on the money and not the quality. We have not been there in months and we'll likely not return for a very long time, if at all.

Definitely the whitest supposed Mexican food I've ever tried to eat. Margarita was nothing but tequila. The Asada tacos were awful. I would eat anywhere else in town. 3 meals and an appetizer was $100.

Love this place. We always get the Cadillac margaritas. The original chile relleno plate is our normal favorite. We really like the Mexican Cole slaw with chips. This time I got the vegetarian fajitas with a side of carnitas, which might be my new go-to. I had enough leftover for omelettes the next day

Traveling to Durango for work from Denver and always in the search for Authentic Mexican Food & boyyyy this place hit the spot! Flavor full, hot, food and super authentic taste, I’m a picky eater when it comes to Mexican food! But I totally recommend this spot if you’re in town 💯💯💯
Service was on point, Jaimito was my server and was great !
I had the Chorizo bean dip with the red and mole enchiladas 🔥
