What fell short for me were the sides: the greens tasted like they came straight out of a can, and while the macaroni and cheese was decent, it lacked that soulful, homemade touch. The oxtail was tender and well-cooked, but I expected a bit more depth of flavor. Overall, the food was pretty good. The service, however, was very underwhelming. I was sitting at the bar (which was empty, mind you) waiting for my boyfriend to come out of the bathroom, when the owner — I believe — told me I couldn’t sit there and had to go back to the front, even though I had just spent $50 at the restaurant. It came across as extremely petty. Being from Memphis, TN, I was genuinely excited to find this spot and was hoping for that warm, Southern hospitality that feels like home. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel appreciated as a customer. While the food was good (though not the best I’ve had), I won’t be returning. It’s a shame, because the music and was great — but I can’t support a place that doesn’t seem to value its core customer base.

Dope atmosphere....the art, music, bar, people, etc. The fried chicken, collar greens, and okra were on point. Ordered a couple drinks and they were good too. Our server was Chavez and she was awesome the whole way through. She sat us and was super friendly. She even introduced us to the owner right before we left and she was a sweetheart too. Anytime I'm in Denver, I'll be sure to swing by!! 5 stars!!!!
