Just had a layover in DIA the other day and was starving. But due to my dietary restrictions (gluten & dairy free, plus vegetarian) there were very few options for me to get something hot. I opted for just some fries because those tend to be safe for me. However, after my first bite of fry I immediately knew something wasn’t right. I also immediately called my husband to look up what they were fried in because I was hurrying back to my gate to not be late. ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE (or at least nowhere that I could see or noticed) was it advertised that the oil they use is *beef tallow* and regular vegetable oil. So $5.40 went straight into the garbage because had I eaten those I would have gotten very sick. DO BETTER! Especially because there are so few food options in airports for people with dietary restrictions and allergies.
“And why just use some beef tallow, either full send it or don’t use any?!?!”-my husband

I never leave reviews but this was so egregiously bad that I felt I had to. The $18 burger (if you can call it that) was dry, the bun was incredibly stale, and the toppings…wait for it, were provided in a plastic baggie. Just incredibly bad, don’t waste your money.

$27 for a chicken Caesar salad…. It was the size of a side salad, and had one bite-sized piece of chicken on it… lettuce had been frozen and still had ice one it. Not offered water, a napkin, or silverware… I don’t normally complain but this was insane. What are we doing here?

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at the Smashburger location inside the Denver (DEN) airport (C) was disappointing enough that I felt it needed to be shared.
While waiting for our connecting flight, my son and I decided to grab a quick meal. I ordered our food to-go from Smashburger, and my son went to the bar next door for a drink. Only then did we realize the bar was actually part of Smashburger as well. I went to sit with him and asked if I could order a drink and enjoy the meal I had just purchased. The staff told me I couldn’t eat there because I had ordered my food “to go.”
I then asked if my son — who had ordered and paid for a $16 beer (or thereabouts) at the bar — could eat his food there. Again, the answer was a swift no, delivered in a curt and dismissive tone. When I tried to cut my burger on a nearby shelf just to make eating it more manageable, another employee almost ran to me and told me I couldn’t do that either, and I was essentially chased out of the area.
It wasn’t just inconvenient — it was unnecessarily rude. The experience felt like a reflection of policies and attitudes that prioritize process over people. At an airport, where travelers are often tired, captive, and just trying to get through their day, a little kindness and flexibility go a long way. Unfortunately, that was completely missing here.
This is probably the first low review I’ve ever written, but the interaction made a strong impression. I won’t be visiting Smashburger again, no matter how good the food may be.

It cost $19.71 for the most horrible burger & fries. The fries were SO greasy, my bag was completely drenched in grease. I was afraid of eating them, due to maybe having digestive problems. Burger was smashed,,,bun, burger, as if someone sat on it. Dried up as if from a microwave. I'll never eat there again! Employees were VERY unfriendly also.
