I usually don’t write reviews, even when experiences are exceptional - good or bad. But this visit was truly one of the worst I have ever had, so much so that I feel compelled to warn other families before they visit this establishment.
As a family of two adults, one young child, and an infant, we were met with an extremely uncomfortable experience - one adult left barely satisfied, one adult didn’t get to eat, and our child’s experience was mediocre at best.
We arrived around 7:45 PM and were immediately met with silence and cold stares. I wish I could exaggerate, but the atmosphere was genuinely unwelcoming, especially compared to the laughter and smiles the servers shared with the group sitting behind us.
Despite our confusion, we continued. When we tried to order two different menu items, we were told they were unavailable, so we opted for the unlimited option. It wasn’t until around 8:25 PM that the meat arrived, and I immediately noticed the portions were much smaller than expected. When the female server returned five minutes later to ask if we wanted anything else, we requested an additional plate of one particular meat. She then informed us we couldn’t order more after that additional request because the kitchen was closed. At that point, I looked at the time: 8:30 PM. While I understand kitchens have closing times, we were given no warning or heads-up. We felt blindsided and trapped into an “unlimited” meal that was, in reality, very limited.
My partner noticed that the female server continued to glare at us, and when he looked back, she told the male server and stopped serving us altogether. The male server came over asking if everything was okay, though it was clear he was also visibly upset. Realizing we were no longer being serviced, I asked for the check. They had tried to charge us for two adults and one child, even though I had not eaten at all. Given the small portions and needing the child to eat first, I asked them to update the check accordingly.
I left extremely baffled, upset, and still hungry. For $71 (1 adult and 1 child), one adult left barely satisfied, one child left okay, and one adult didn’t even eat.
I don’t understand what we did to deserve this treatment, and I even had to explain to my child why mommy wasn’t eating that night. This experience was deeply disappointing, and I feel other families should be warned before visiting.
For clarity, we visited Dae Gee Castle Rock on April 4, 2026 - one female and one male server. I have their names, but out of respect for the situation, I think the manager / owner should talk to them privately.
I am an Asian mom who generally likes to go out and support other Asian establishments, which makes this even harder for me to write.
