One of the best buffets I've dined at in a long time. The crab legs, lobster tails, and prime rib were amazing! A wide range of options to choose from and all the food is fresh. Steak was cooked to perfection and the kielbasa was extremely flavorful. I also tried the pho, which was authentic and great options to choose from. And the desert options are limitless. I'm already looking forward to going back. I'll be dining here every time I'm visiting Blackhawk.

Plenty to eat. Most items were of mediocre quality but a couple of great buffet items.

I had a very disappointing experience at Monarch Buffet on February 21, 2026 at approximately 8:54 PM.
My family of five, including three young daughters and a baby in a stroller, paid for five dinners (three vouchers, one additional voucher, and a purchased child ticket). Despite this, we were seated at a table for four.
When I calmly explained we were a party of five, the hostess insisted we had only purchased four tickets. She removed our utensils and walked away. To eliminate any confusion, I returned to the cashier and purchased an additional child ticket so there would be no dispute.
Even after showing proof of payment, I was spoken to in a raised and confrontational tone in front of my family. I later learned this individual was a supervisor, which was honestly concerning given how the situation was handled.
We ultimately had to share four seats among five people, including a baby, despite seeing larger tables available and a table for nine being called shortly after we were seated.
This was not about ticket confusion — it was about how it was handled. I remained calm throughout the interaction, but the experience was unnecessarily embarrassing and avoidable.
I have contacted management directly and requested review of the surveillance footage from that time.
I hope this is taken seriously, as supervisors represent the standard of service at this property.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! I wouldn’t waste your time going here. It’s called the BUFFET- however this is false advertising when it comes to the crab and lobster portion of the buffet. You WONT find it in ANY regular or small print! You will pay $60 per person and each person is allowed 1 small lobster tail and 1lb of snow crab legs (approximately 6 legs). Each additional retail or 1 lb crab is $10. The rest of the buffet is subpar. I’ve tasted better Asian food at Panda Express. Mexican food, terrible. Food line servers are RUDE. I’m assuming to expect even a smile, thank you etc costs extra too. Manager said they get many complaints regarding the seafood portion of the buffet, but overall management doesn’t allow for any type of refund or even partial credit refunds.
Dave yourself the disappointment, go somewhere for a nice dinner with better quality food and service. We paid $129 for two of us and left UNSATISFIED and dooped .

I would like to start off by saying that I don't fancy myself a foodie or some sort of food critic - I just genuinely did not like this place. I don't normally have high food expectations, and I'm not one to complain about food, service, etc.
That being said - I feel like the cost of this buffet and the type of food that they offer, the restaurant itself sets higher expectations for you.
The service here was awful, and it had even slowed down a lot after we got there.
We did not even get our water until after we were almost finished with the buffet entirely. I went in thirsty to begin with, and went through several plates of dry, rubbery, overcooked food (that I did not finish), before I finally got a single glass of water.
Our plates had disappeared between trips, but never got more than our one eventual water, and never got the tools for the seafood.
The salad bar was mediocre/lacking, which wouldn't have bothered me otherwise, but just kind of added to my bad mood at that point. Especially since I had given up on all the main course foods had decided to just fill up on whatever was at the salad bar...
So my final plan was to at least treat myself to a course of desserts and leave on a good note that way. I grabbed FIVE different cakes and things and every single one was dry, hard, and not even that good.
I cannot even explain how disappointed I was at that point. I've never met a cake I didn't like and I'm not even that picky overall.
I lost some money gambling and I was not even upset about it, but I was ACTUALLY upset about this dinner.
I will never eat here again. For the price it's not worth the risk.
