This location has always been a bit slow, but it seems to be getting worse. This review is no reflection on the employees, you can tell they are trying their best, but they are understaffed. Today, there were two people working, the time was 1:00 pm, a time when people are out an about on a Saturday, and it's Valentine's Day, so it's anticipated to be busy.
Additionally, Dairy Queen has hit up email boxes to urge customers to come in for their new specials and Valentine treats which means, higher customer volume.
We sat for 15 minutes before even getting to the speaker to order, and because of the wait several cars behind us backed up to leave. We didn't have anywhere to be, so we stayed.
Once we were able to order, the young man who took our order, I could tell he was new, and was struggling a bit in finding the keys for the items we ordered on his register, but he was polite, and apologized for his delay in not being familiar with where to select the items.
After we ordered, there were two vehicles in front of us, and after another 10 minutes with no movement, 2 cars, again, behind us, backed up and left. It was so bad, that the truck in front of us once they got to the window they paid, but left before taking their order due to the long wait.
The young man at the window, apologized for the wait, asked if we saw the direction the truck went, and we let him know they left the lot. We could see the frustration in face, having the items prepared for the truck that drove off. After 30 minutes, we had our items.
Whoever is managing this place is doing a disservice to their staff and their customers. The people working here, I have to imagine, deal with frustrated people all the time because their leadership is not setting them up for success.
Kudos to the people we interacted with today, good job staying calm and professional under stressful circumstances.
To management, get it together!
Hire appropriately, maybe implement a bonus structure or something similar to encourage employee attendance. Also, train better, when new items are introduced, make sure your team is familiar with the products and how to ring it up, its YOUR job to create a positive work environment!
