A frustrating disappointment.
We came here as part of a group of six. The service was painfully slow and, for lack of a better word, apathetic. I thought that such a nice restaurant would have a higher caliber of wait staff, but they didn’t.
The food was good overall, but horribly overpriced and portions were limited.
The biggest issues, however, came from the bill. First, the restaurant does not split bills, so the friends that invited us covered the tab. When I went to Zelle them our portion, I was surprised to see that we were charged for table bread. The sourdough was good, but not good enough to pay for, especially when it’s something most places provide at no charge.
Next, the ‘tip’ was mandated to the tune of 20%. Except they didn’t list it as “Tip,” but rather as a “Service Fee.” The arrogance of this practice still surprises me. This allows Mediterraneo to apply the obscene amount of sales tax (currently 9.75% in Los Angeles County) to the entire bill.
Overall? Let’s just say we won’t be going back.

Great ambiance and good food, but the overall experience was disappointing. We were celebrating my husband’s 40th birthday, and I had clearly requested a ‘Happy 40th’ note on the dessert while making the reservation on OpenTable. I also reminded our server in person, but the request was dismissed, citing rush hour as the reason. For a special occasion, this felt completely unacceptable and took away from what should have been a memorable celebration.

While in Westlake Village, a friend highly recommended Mediterrraneo, and we went there March 6. Beautiful restaurant, outside and in. We were seated and served promptly. I noticed top late that we are seated not only by the entrance but also by the bar. Much foot traffic near us. Nonetheless, our server, Joe, was excellent! He was attentive, answered questions and made suggestions. Very good. All the food was good... not great. Apparently the exception was the martini which, I'm told, was excellent. Were we to return, I would watch where we were seated and would try other dishes. Parking is in front of the restaurant, and cars are directed to the valet parking... however you can choose self parking, which I did...$7... and I found a spot directly across from the entrance. I would recommend Meditteraneo.
