My grandmother came home shaken up over the blatant discrimination and racism she faced at this store. She asked an employee if she worked there and if she could help her find something, to which the employee dismissively replied a stern “No.” to both, without even turning around to look at her. The employee was stocking meat in Safeway uniform. To not be rude, my grandmother went to another employee, and the employee stated that the woman that told her she didn’t work there would be able to help her. My grandmother goes back up to the employee and asks why she lied. The woman continues lying, saying “I never said that. I don’t remember saying that.” Then goes “I thought you were like the rest of *them.*” My grandmother is very hurt by this, as she did nothing to warrant that. No one does. She asks for the manager to file a complaint, and he was even more dismissive. He listened to nothing my grandmother had to say, then stated “I’m not going to write a report on this so you can just leave.” No help, no worry, no care. Two random customers began antagonizing my grandmother to take the side of the manager/employee, and the Safeway staff did nothing. They ended up calling the cops on my 72 year old grandmother, for trying to buy meat. I don’t even have words. Everyone in this situation share the same race, some sort of Latino, and I believe that is where the tribal, racist, and defensive behavior came from. Everyone else in the store was very kind towards her. It’s tragic that in 2026, this repulsive behavior is still ongoing. We are all the same, we bleed the same, laugh the same, live the same and die the same. Race should never matter or be a focal point. Deciding to discriminate against someone over their voice or skin pigmentation is a sign of a lower IQ if you ask me. Maybe that’s why they’re in their 30s/40s working at Safeway. We will pursue all legal action necessary if the situation does not get resolved. Happy New Year! :)

The 5 stars are for the head clerk Sabrina, Exceptional Service from Sabrina at Safeway (Lincoln Road, Vallejo) I want to give a huge thank‑you to Sabrina, the head clerk at the Safeway on Lincoln Road in Vallejo, for her outstanding customer service and genuine compassion. I purchased a Christmas dinner from Safeway, and on Christmas morning, when I opened the meal, I discovered there was no ham included. That meant my family and I ended up with no Christmas dinner, which was incredibly disappointing on a day that’s supposed to be special. The day after Christmas, I went into the store and spoke with Sabrina. From the moment I explained what happened, she was understanding, patient, and truly helpful. She didn’t dismiss my concern or rush me — she listened, acknowledged how upsetting the situation was, and did everything she could to make it right. While nothing can change the fact that my family missed our Christmas meal, Sabrina’s kindness and professionalism made a difficult situation so much easier to handle. Employees like Sabrina make a real difference. Her empathy, leadership, and dedication to customer care deserve to be recognized and appreciated. Highly recommended and deeply grateful. Barbara at hot food is the absolute slower person I've ever seen pack and ring up people. Takes her time. I wanted potato wedges and she told the person helping her to not weigh mine because someone else ordered because Barbara had not gotten to pack up the wedges yet. Dosnt take long to pack and weigh. Im a chef of 17 years and that lack or sense or urgency is ridiculous. Well Barbara maybe pick up the pace and get to it. Your making people angry.

Edit: Safeway you guys better recognize who your star employees are because if it wasn't for Sabrina and David I would not return to this store. Those are two individuals who truly care about customer service and they certainly know how to give it you guys need a lot more employees like them I will only be coming to this store if one of those two is on shift Unfortunately this went from being my favorite store and favorite service to the absolute worst experience of my life. One order over $400 $61 of the merchandise was missing we got the runaround had to go back to the store multiple times and still do not have all of our items and now I've been informed it'll take five business days for the store to approve a refund and if they approve it it'll be another 5 to 7 business days to receive it. I use this service because I have a child with disabilities and my man has a broken back this is completely unacceptable the store doesn't have to wait 5 to 7 business days plus another 5 to 7 business days for me to pay them but I can't get my products or refund. I would highly advise against doing any kind of store pickup or delivery from this store if you do be cautious because you may not get all your stuff and if you don't check before you leave you may have to wait 10 business days in order to feed your family
