Today at Safeway, I had a very uncomfortable and unprofessional experience. I was having issues with my EBT card at the self-checkout, and the employee assisting me was raising her voice while explaining to me how to use it instead of helping calmly. At the same time, the security guard was staring at me in a way that i felt targeted and profiling, even after my payment had already gone through. Their behavior made me feel judged, uncomfortable, and singled out. This went beyond “doing their job” and showed a lack of respect for customers.

I have been to many Safeway‘s in California. I never seen fried chicken look this bad at the deli before the tater tots, corn, dogs, and burritos don’t look right also. I don’t think the store manager really checks up on a full quality at the deli. Be careful with the slow roasted dark turkey, especially if you have high blood pressure. It must be 2000 g of salt on it enough to kill a dog and its owner then I’m disgusted by sliced fruit at the front door that’s always a day and a half old and slimy at the bottom. I’ll take pictures next time because it’s an everyday thing. The manager needs to tell the deli to make less and make it fresh every day. I also don’t know why they don’t hire an Asian to make the sushi like other Safeway stores. The guy that makes a sushi is trying, but there needs to be an Asian making sushi at least half a week.

I want to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at this store. A customer service employee named Annett acted in a very unprofessional manner when I asked for clarification about my receipt. Instead of helping me with respect and kindness, her attitude was rude and not what a customer deserves. I have been a Safeway customer for many years, but experiences like this make you think twice before coming back. A supermarket of this category should train its staff better to provide respectful and professional customer service.

There’s really no winning with this store. They short their cashiers hours and keep the minimum # of checkout stands open during peak hours, but when you go to self checkout and do their job for them, they’ll still make you wish you went to any other spot. Walmart has better self checkout and ALOT less pan handlers harassing you at the entrance. Despite socks and underwear being under lock and key at Walmart, Safeway will make you feel more like a criminal with rude employees.
