  This store is so mediocre it's pathetic. They are always poorly stocked, out of a few tho gs I need every visit. They run sales on things that are about to expire. Strawberries, open the container and those on the bottom are rotten. This has happened too often. Things are marked a certain price and don't ring up that price. The ridiculous digital coupons has people clogging aisles to get on the app to click the coupon. Just charge the sale price! In short - I can't stand this store.

  I was surprised to see my friend Susan provided a review. I was going to let it go, but I need to support her as I have the first hand knowledge. She and I were at the store together, and I can confirm what happened as a witness. I also agree with her description. I shop at this store regularly, as well as at Gelson’s and Trader Joe’s nearby, and overall the customer service is generally good. However, there are one or two employees—who don’t work there often—who seem to pick and choose who they treat kindly. I feel I have to point this out: as people of color, I suspect there may be an element of racial bias behind their behavior. Most of the staff are fine, but those one or two individuals spoil the experience for everyone. To be honest, I now go out of my way to avoid them when I shop at this Vons.

  On Sunday (Sep. 14, 2025), I had a gathering at my house and thought I would run to Vons to pick up some potatoes. At the entrance, there were ForU deal peaches that looked good, so I picked up some of those too. I checked out at cashier #5 (around 1:30 PM). It was a bit of a struggle to get the ForU barcode to show up. I showed my phone screen to the cashier, asking for help. She was stone-faced, looking straight ahead without even glancing at my phone. I was about to give up looking for the coupon when I heard an annoyed sigh from her. I told her to check me out regardless of the price and finished the transaction. Two parts to my complaint: This woman (blonde, in her 50s to 60s) didn’t seem happy at work. She didn’t smile the whole time, wasn’t willing to help, and even showed annoyance when a customer couldn’t find the store coupon on their app. She probably shouldn’t be in a customer-facing role if she is that miserable. If she really didn’t know how to find the ForU barcode, it’s the store’s negligence for not training employees properly on how to use this highly promoted app. Not a good experience.

  ‘Someone’ jammed the pokemon card reader. I didn’t think it was employees because the manager told me there’s tweezers in aisle 18 if I wanted to try to take it out. I bought them, and they didn’t fit. I left and went to the ace hardware next door, got smaller and more precise tweezers there to try to remove them. Manager wasn’t happy about that, strange how she was letting me try with tweezers from their own Vons store, tweezers she probably knew wouldn’t work. Anyways, this store is known for having employees touch this machine a ton so I wouldnt be surprised if the employees, especially the manager in the photo, are in on it.
