We randomly came across Lazy Dog Restaurant driving through Thousand Oaks on our way to Big Bear on the 4th of July weekend. We wanted to get some real food and a beer.
We parked in the parking lot across the street which had a fair amount of available parking.
We were able to get a seat right away. Service was quick and friendly. The menus are cool (leather wrapped). Tons of good food options. Good size meal. Pricing is very fair for the portion and quality.
We wanted to try a new beer and tried the Huckleberry Haze IPA and it was amazing. We ever got a 4 pack to go (yes they even sell it canned)! This beer was SO good that we HAD to stop back while driving home from Joshua Tree for lunch and of course, more of the Huckleberry beer. They also have a lunch special, a half sandwich, and a salad and other side like fries for around $12.

I always love stopping by Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar here in Thousand Oaks when I’m in the area. We had a Trunk or Treat event for the kids nearby, so we figured why not stop in? I ordered from the Build Your Own Lunch menu, which offers smaller, discounted portions of some of their regular items. With this special, you get to pick one entrée, one side, and either a salad or soup. The list of options is fairly short, but I ended up ordering the Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwich with no tomato. It was decent not the best chicken salad I’ve ever had, but it was okay. For my side, I chose the apple cider vinegar coleslaw. I had a bit of an issue with that it was very bland and lacked flavor. The Build Your Own Lunch also includes a soup or salad, so I went with the Caesar salad since I love Caesar salad. The servers here are pretty attentive and check in often to see if you need anything, which I really appreciate. I don’t like having to sit and hope a server comes by again, like at some other places. The ambiance of the restaurant feels like a cozy cabin meets sports bar. The menu has a wide variety of options, so I have no doubt that anyone who visits will find something they like. I’d definitely recommend Lazy Dog to anyone looking for good American comfort food served in a warm, rustic setting. And just like the name suggests, Lazy Dog welcomes dogs, but only on the outdoor patio. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to return. I love this place.
