- MVmaycy vandora6 days ago1.0I want all EBT recipients to know that these cashiers are not supposed to look at your receipt to check your EBT balance. Its an invasion of privacy thats protected by privacy rules governing CalFresh and CalWORKs. There’s a nosey elderly Asian male cashier here whose name is Eugene (thats what my receipt said). This man was not wearing any eyeglasses. When I paid using an EBT card, he’d torn my receipt off the machine, held it, retrieved his reading glasses from the side, put his reading glasses on, then had the gall and the gumption to skim to the bottom of my receipt to see my EBT balance. He had absolutely no reason to look at my receipt at all. He took his good old time doing it like he was entitled to invade my privacy. Then he gave me the receipt and looked at me as if I should have shame. It was very improper, very illegal and very nosey of him to do that. I called to report it to the store manager who I believe is called Kai. She showed absolute indifference and spoke to me as if she couldn’t believe that I had wasted her time to call to report the behavior of this cashier. Safeway, train your cashiers better before you end up in a lawsuit for privacy rights violations.
