  If you are looking for an authentic taste of North India, keep driving. Despite the name—which suggests a connection to the bold, vibrant flavors of India’s culinary capital—Delhi Belly in Sonoma is a massive disappointment that fails to grasp even the basics of Indian cooking. The most egregious offense was the Paneer Makhni. Instead of a rich, aromatic makhani gravy simmered with cream, butter, and a complex blend of spices, what we were served was essentially paneer cubes swimming in warmed-up tomato ketchup. To reduce a classic, soulful dish to a sugary, vinegary syrup is a complete misunderstanding of the cuisine. There is a very sharp difference between being "just another restaurant down the road" and being a place that is proud of Indian food and its cultural richness. This kitchen clearly falls into the former category. The expectations set by the name were high. Delhi is world-renowned for its street food and Mughlai heritage, but this restaurant doesn’t meet a single one of those standards. Indian food is celebrated globally for its depth, layering of spices, and regional integrity. Serving ketchup-based gravy feels like a lazy shortcut that ignores the heritage the restaurant claims to represent. For a town like Sonoma, which prides itself on quality ingredients and culinary craft, Delhi Belly is a glaring outlier. It is embarrassing to see Indian food represented this way. If you value authenticity—or even just a decent meal—I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Avoid this place if you actually like Indian food. < Editing service down to 1 as owner replied with false information to my first review and it showed complete lack of customer service mindset. We were not changed for the dish that’s correct but it’s not something we cared as the modified dish was also not good and we didn’t eat it. I wish good luck to restaurant but will advice them to improve their food quality and customer service mindset >

  I ordered the lemongrass chicken, coconut rice, and cilantro onion Naan. Absolutely mind blowing. One of the most delicious meals I have ever eaten. The staff is so sweet. The portions are decent. Be sure to get the mango pickles or the mango chutney. Absolutely 💯 worth it!

  We did take out and ate in the Sonoma square. The food is delicious and the people are friendly and fast. Highly recommend it. I prefer not to eat in unless you can sit outside in the back which is lovely.
