This is by far one of the worst Safeway stores in the Bay. I bought some fish and brought it home only discovered it was spoiled. The smell was horrific. For thanksgiving, I bought some lamb shanks, opened them again, spoiled foul smelling. Yesterday, I bought a bag of fingerling potatoes, The Little Potatoe Co. which are always perfect, those were green and soft. They had gone bad. The quality control on fresh items is just deplorable. The store is always minimally staffed. Expect to be in line for ever. If you need liquor, it is locked up and you can ring the bell until the cows come, there will be no one to help you. It's frustrating because I live 2 blocks from this Safeway and I prefer just to drive to Lucky's because I can dash in and out. As much as that Lucky's is a bit of a dump, I have never purchased spoiled food from them. I can't understand why this Safeway is so poorly run. Maybe it's the clients they serve, who are used to this kind of service or establishment. I am often mind boggled when I go to other Safeways in the Bay and see how nice those are in comparison to ours in San Leandro,. Do better, this Safeway is disgusting. No lights outside in the corridor, homeless people everywhere, people selling things outside, dirty filthy carts and outside area, it's by far the most nasty Safeway I have visited. And the security guards are useless, they do very little to prevent theft and they are always hanging out and chatting away with the Starbucks employees. I have yet to witness one security guard actually doing their job. So done with this store, it doesn't have to be this way.
