Overall a good experience but started off very rocky.
We arrived 10 minutes early for our 6pm reservation for my birthday but had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated in the “private dining area” (which was really overflow for the bar area).
Several times the manager (or matrie ‘d) Jess would come around and specifically not make eye contact with us or communicate in any way.
The host did tell us that the reason we weren't seated right away was because a theater show ended early and people came from that.
When we did sit down in the “private area”. Another party sitting there was loudly watching a sports game on their phone.
Regardless, Jess came by and offered to comp their dessert since it was their anniversary. Jess came by multiple times to talk to them about wine and different subjects.
Eventually, other guests came in, some sitting right next to us. Again, Jess was right there, offering his services and providing his ideas for wine and the such.
Never did Jess apologize to us or offer any condolences for our inconvenience.
I’ve been to Morton’s several times. Here in San Jose and in Miami, by far the worst experience I have had.
Siddharth on the other hand was incredible. Friendly, quick, and overall pleasant. And absolute joy.
I don’t think I will ever return, purely based on Jess.

Since my parents’ anniversary coincided with the last day of my mom’s 3 week visit from abroad, we had planned to celebrate with a special steak dinner before she returned home. However, we were appalled by not only the quality of food served to us, but the experience as well at what we had assumed was an esteemed institution.
Upon ordering drinks to accompany our steak, my dad requested a recommendation of the house red. Our server, Rogelio, recommended the ones in the $80-$90 range. However, when my dad reiterated his request, Rogelio made an extremely inappropriate remark about how he “was unaware of my dad’s preference for only the $50 bottles”, which immediately left a very sour taste in our mouths.
To make matters worse, the creamed corn we ordered was simultaneously gritty AND watery, the steak was burned and overcooked, and the crab cakes were simply pitiful. I myself am finding it hard to believe that the French fries were the only redeeming aspect of our meal, which serves as a significant indicator of the overall dining experience we endured at Morton’s today.

The Service & Wine Discrepancy: Unfortunately, the service did not match the price point. We encountered several issues:
Wine Misrepresentation: We ordered a bottle of Educated Guess 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was explicitly advertised on the menu as being from Napa Valley. However, the bottle brought to the table was actually the "eg" California version. For a high-end steakhouse, failing to distinguish between a premium Napa-sourced wine and a more generic California-sourced tier is a significant oversight.
Dropped Drinks: Our initial round of drinks took a long time to arrive; we eventually learned they had been dropped while being delivered to the table. While accidents happen, we weren't notified of the delay until much later.
Missing Sides: We had to flag down our server to ask about a missing side dish that failed to arrive with our entrees.

My husband and I had a date night this past week. I have to say I was thrilled by the end of the night that we chose Morton's. The ambiance there is always set to that low lighting vibe, but our server added a spotlight! She not only recommended some of the best dishes I have ever tasted, the Wagu with lobster tail as an addition. (The crab potatoes are a must try) Everything was cooked to perfection. Her friendliness and personality brought a ray of light and energy. She did all of this while zipping around from here to there with other tables, all the while keeping a smile on her face she's a funny girl You've got a winner! Thanks Renae for making our night a fantastic one! And hats off to the chef!

Just got back from Morton’s in San Jose – 184 South Market Street. It was pretty busy when we went, thankfully we snagged a table. The portions are definitely generous, and honestly a bit much for one person! We went for a special occasion, and they really leaned into that with a tomahawk steak, which was amazing – super tender. The service was attentive, our waiter was great. The prices are on the higher side, but it felt worth it. Parking was a bit of a hunt, but they have a nice outdoor area too. I’d maybe suggest asking about the smaller steak options if you’re not huge steak eaters – it felt a little overkill.
