I live in the east where Mexican food is not quite as sophisticated as in L.A. and I find myself wishing I could just drive down the street and enjoy the high quality food, excellent service and friendly staff and I especially love the atmosphere. The decor and ambience are exceptional (clearly the owners created an experience in dining with the fun and elegant vibe), and being located in the SG Mission district makes it all the more of an experience. Another thing unique about Lunas is the menu which offers regional specialties that I have not found anywhere else. Hand crafted cocktails, excellent ambience, service and hand crafted food presented beautifully makes Lunas my favorite every time I am in L.A.- love to bring family and friends. The cost depends on addition of cocktails or not of course, and wait for table for me is usually not at all because I have the ability to come in off peak hours. They have additional outdoor seating with excellent service so the capacity is larger than it may look from outside.

- HHHoward HJan 8, 20265.0Nice Mexican restaurant in the area, we came on a weekday near closing time so there is not a lot of people inside. Friendly service and very tasty food. We had the lengua and flautas plate. Both are excellent although the price is definitely on the higher end side.
