About

RestaurantItalian Restaurant
A spirited, bar-driven restaurant serving rustic Italian fare with modern sensibilities, Tratto means the stroke of a pen in Italian, a nod to the neighborhood’s artistic history. A flavorful menu of simple, delicious and shareable dishes coupled with casual, communal-style dining creates a neighborhood bar experience inspired by the Italian happy hour tradition of "aperitivo." Dishes such as house-made pastas and sausages, pizza, seasonal vegetables and seafood are prepared with as little manipulation as possible, ranging from slow-cooked braises to "à la minute" cuisine. Our full bar features traditional Italian cocktails with a twist, house-made Italian Sodas and limoncellos, and beer and wine sourced from the best of the West Coast and Italy.

Friendly, attentive service. I was told All of the pasta is homemade! Menu says sauces are homemade. Made from scratch is important. A great Italian option in the area.

Fritto Misto was a nice app portion, but bland. Pappardelle was with a mix meat ragu - excellent. Negroni was also excellent.

We made a dinner reservation for December 31st, scheduled for 8:30 PM. When we arrived, there were no available seats, and the staff told us we would have to wait—even though there were clearly empty tables. After questioning again how long it would take for us to be seated, we were finally shown to a table around 8:50 PM. We initially ordered an appetizer and wine, but at no point were we informed that the kitchen would close at 9:00 PM. This information should have been clearly communicated from the beginning, especially considering that we were seated about 20 minutes after our original reservation time. At 9:30 PM, when we asked the waiter to place our main course order, we were told that the kitchen had already closed—despite it being New Year’s Eve. In practice, this meant we would have had only about 10 minutes to order our main dishes after being seated. The staff was unable to resolve the situation, and the manager stated that there was nothing he could do, insisting that the fault was ours and that he was certain his employee had warned us, which did not happen. No effort was made to accommodate us or find a reasonable solution. We ended up paying for the appetizers and wine and leaving the restaurant. It is disappointing that a restaurant of this level handles a New Year’s Eve service so poorly. If the kitchen truly closes at 9:00 PM, then reservations should not be accepted for 8:30 PM—especially when guests are seated late through no fault of their own.
