Highly recommend Moe’s! My family and I (two kids, 11 & 7) stopped in after spending time at the beach. The vibes were immaculate. It was a bit upscale but still welcoming of us in our street clothes, steakhouse atmosphere but still kid-friendly. Our server was great and other diners looked and sounded like they were having a great time. Every single thing we ordered was excellent. My husband and I shared the French Onion Soup (highly recommend!!), the Caesar salad, a baked potato and the Filet Mignon. Our son ordered the NY Strip and our daughter had chicken from the kids menu. We topped it off with butter cake for dessert and it was so good! Will return if we’re ever back in the area!
We had a Birthday Reservation that we made far in advance for 5:30pm. When we showed up promptly we were informed we would be seated on the rickety old ikea wooden chairs on the patio. Seriously? Still, we were nice, said okay, and then waited an hour for a “real” table, which ended up still only being a table in the BAR. This was supposed to be a very special 73rd birthday celebration that we made very clearly well in advance and noted in our reservation. Still, we accepted and tried to enjoy our night, but it got worse. The food was good but nothing notable. Our biggest slap in the face from this establishment was the wine selection presented by our waiter, we did choose the bottle ourselves, yet he failed to mention the bottle of wine we selected was a $525 bottle of wine. Let me say that again, FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS FOR A BOTTLE OF WINE with NO WARNING! Honestly, if our “wine expert” (NICK) would have informed us of this expensive bottle of wine, it would have been different, but it was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and snarky to do this. Especially after losing our birthday reservation. In my opinion, this place is run down, struggling, and took advantage of us. Would highly NOT recommend if you want a luxury steakhouse, human decency, respect, and a quality experience. As San Diego natives, this place sucks, if you plan on dropping money somewhere, go somewhere actually worth your time and palate.

This place is not worth the price. Value of a trash can. Poor food and service. Staff wasn’t friendly and the steak tasted like cat food. AKA MOES THE TRASHCAN
This place was a very cool mix of old school and modern. With dark wood and classic colors on the inside. The service was great and the staff was all good looking. The food was wonderful! Such great quality and you can tell there was a lot of work put into the presentation. This was my first time here, but I truly enjoyed my visit. Only issue I had, was the size of the booth. It was a little tight for a guy like me who enjoys his food. Lol
There has been a steakhouse in this location since the 1950s however this Moe’s version has been open since 2022. It’s a classic old school steakhouse but to me it feels more like a bar that serves food vs a steakhouse. Our server was very polite and was probably the highlight of the meal to be honest. The food itself was just OK but I really did like the ambience and it was definitely a lively and very loud place to have dinner. Parking is very difficult in this part of town, we were lucky to find a street spot a few blocks away, however, you may have to walk some blocks so be prepared for that. Inside is pretty small and darkly lit and the first thing you’ll notice when you enter is the giant bar. There are tables next to that and in the back. We sat near the bar so it was extremely loud during our meal. We could hardly hear each other at the table, although it was nice to hear everyone having a good time.
I started off with a French Onion Soup, which was actually very nice. It was a bit too salty but the broiled cheese on top made up for it, and I would say it was my favorite dish of the night. After that, I followed up with the Filet Mignon and thought it was just OK. It was a bit dry and lacked any sort of seasoning and just didn’t have a lot of flavor. It was not bad but far from what some of the other steakhouses in San Diego would serve.
Overall Moe’s would be a nice option for a date if you live close by, but I would not suggest to people driving far or to those visiting San Diego. There are better options around town.
