We provide holiday dinners for the homeless kids. We get approved two days for the holidays to come out and fundraiser for the homeless kids dinners Hilda is preventing us from fundraising. It is harassing us saying that we’re not allowed to be there taking pictures of us after we’ve been approved with Corporate and with their store manager. The homeless kids foundation has been working with Vons at this particular location for the last four years Hilda the assistant manager is very unprofessional. She was cursing at our community volunteers, which is a veteran in our community and was harassing him this is unacceptable.

Should’ve trusted my instinct and gone to self-checkout even if I had slightly more than 15 items. Totally empathetic towards people and don’t mind the chatter, but she is exceptionally rude. She probably hasn’t travelled the world or have diverse groups of friends which is why she is very rude! She doesn’t know how to treat anyone of different background fair and just. I kept quiet and didn’t say anything at all. I didn’t even get to add my phone number in to get points. Get her a book on etiquette. Someone else younger deserves this job. First time in my life I’ve ever been treated like this:no greeting, no eye contact, nothing all while the customer behind me got polite service. I’m not sure what she assumed about me, but my English is perfect, born here, and I expect equal respect. Her attitude felt completely out of place; professionalism shouldn’t be “out of stock.” Maybe consider hiring staff who are charismatic, friendly, and actually interested in customer service. Why was this level of rudeness acceptable? Perhaps put up flyers at colleges, high school. They probably need the money more than she does.

First the security guard asked me what I was doing there ..my response was I planned to shop but had a question for customer service: he said oh I can't help you. Before I could say anything to anyone else a young black male and I'm only labelling him as black because he had no name tag on for the stores reference came rushing up to me being me I need to leave my back pack at the door or leave. I said excuse me are you going to watch my belongings he said no it was not his responsibility and I needed to leave if I wasn't taking it off. In this time I saw 4 woman with purses larger then my back pack walk in and they were not told to take them off or leave them at the door so I feel like I was directly discriminated against andi fully plan on seeking the advice from an attorney about bringing suit for discrimination against the location and the specific employee who felt the need to publicly humiliate me. I will ever set foot in a Vons again but I want to ensure that nobody else faces this kind of humiliation again. I am a city dweller we all carry back packs how else are you supposed to get things around on pubic transportation. Maybe your employees need to do their job instead of policing each person based on appearance. Be prepared to hear from an attorney in the next few days.
