    I have been shopping at this Von’s location for over 20 years, and until this experience, I would have described it as a true neighborhood store. The checkers and most departments are consistently friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the floral department operates at a completely different and deeply disappointing standard. The issue began with their policy of charging 20 percent to wrap flowers in basic brown paper and tissue. That means the exact same wrapping costs 20 percent of an $80 bouquet or 20 percent of a $6 bouquet. The materials and labor are identical, yet the fee scales with the price of the flowers. When I calmly questioned how that makes sense, I was met with eye-rolling, dismissive body language, and staff speaking under their breath while I was expressing a reasonable concern in a professional tone. What escalated this from frustrating to unacceptable was my follow-up call with the store manager. Instead of offering clarity or professionalism, she responded with, “Well, hardly anybody actually pays to wrap six dollar flowers.” That comment was inappropriate and frankly offensive. It is not management’s place to suggest what level of presentation someone “should” choose based on how much they spend. Whether someone is purchasing a $6 bouquet or an $80 arrangement is irrelevant. Every customer deserves the same respect, without judgment or condescension. This was not about the few dollars. It was about the attitude. The dismissiveness, the eye-rolling, and the implication that smaller purchases do not warrant the same service left a lasting impression, and not a good one. After two decades of loyalty to this store, it is extremely disappointing to see such a clear management and customer service issue concentrated in one department. I hope leadership takes this seriously, because the rest of the store reflects a much higher standard than what I experienced in floral.

    Because I'm an UberEats and Instacart shopper, I visit this Vons on Adams at least once a day, sometimes upwards of five times a day. It's one of the smaller Vons in San Diego but don't let its small size fool you. They have everything you would expect from a grocery store, except just on a miniature scale. You'll find a bakery and deli with a small outsourced third party sushi section, an alcohol section with wine, beer, hard liquor. You'll find a meat \ seafood \ butcher counter and quaint little produce, pharmacy and floral departments. If you're looking for some markdown bargains and clearance items, while inside the store, walk towards the southwest corner of the store, just past the pharmacy but before you get to the bathrooms and there you'll find ton of marked down items that are usually 25% to 50% off. Aside from the contents and layout of the store, this Vons has an incredible staff that is friendly, hard-working, and super knowledgeable / helpful. It's so impressive how they always maintain a positive vibe even on some of the busiest days of the year!

    Awesome service. Alyssa was careful with my foodstuffs and very positive and very talkative during the long rush/huge line she was managing. 3 stars because the handsoap was nowhere to be found even though I looked everywhere. :(

    Vons has been my local neighborhood grocery store for over 25 years, and one of the things I value most is seeing the same familiar, helpful faces over time. Ali and Dwayne are consistently welcoming and supportive, and David and Thomas in the pharmacy truly go above and beyond to meet customer needs. Their care and professionalism make a real difference. My only feedback is directed toward district and local management. I would appreciate seeing more professional training around how feedback is given to employees and how motivation is handled. Calling staff out publicly or prioritizing corporate posturing over customer engagement reflects poorly on the store and the people who work so hard there. The frontline staff deserve better support.

    They force you to use their self checkout. The employees are like robots. Might as well not be there. (Edit) It is sad to walk into a store that used to feel like your neighborhood grocery store (1990s) and don't get any human interaction, specially having to talk to robot machine to pay. Might as well order online and have it delivered to my door which is what I am trying not to do.
