We met friends at Casa Guadalajara for a farewell lunch. The restaurant came highly recommend. The restaurant did not disappoint. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. The portions are very ample. We each shared our entrees. Afterwards I recommend walking around Old Town San Diego. Very quaint and lots of history.

Service was great, food was ok. But what was disappointing is that they note mariachi was there Thursday AND Friday. I took friends from Milwaukee and their website is incorrect. They dont have mariachi on Thursdays. I wanted to leave and go elsewhere. They were disappointed and just decided to stay because it started raining. Would I go here when there is no mariachi. Definitely not.

Waited 20 minutes for just drinks. Waited much longer for food. Looks like only one person was working our whole side of the seating area. Not that busy in the restaurant.
Wait time wasn’t long at all however not much point if you are waiting a while just to get your order taken.
Food wasn’t the best but the children’s menu was good.
Atmosphere was good.
Overall not that good of an experience because of the service.

I had a bad experience at Casa Guadalajara from the very start. Our server, Ms. V, was extremely rude and dismissive. I let her know about my food allergy when ordering, but when my meal arrived, the item I’m allergic to was right there on my plate. When I pointed it out, she gave me attitude instead of an apology.
When my dish came back, it looked like they just scraped everything off the old plate and sent it back out. The steak was cold, lacked flavor, and overall just felt carelessly prepared. Throughout the meal, the server never once checked on us for refills or to see how we were doing.
When the check came, we left a much lower tip than what was suggested on the receipt — only $5 — and honestly, I shouldn’t have left anything at all given the poor service.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all. If you’re looking for authentic food and better service, I’d suggest going to Café Coyote just a couple blocks away — the food there is much better and the staff actually cares about their customers.

The food is very salty, the taste horrible looks like they are using food cans on everything. Bought a chicken burrito it had plenty chicken meat which is good! But the red sauce the taste was terrible. The orcharta it wasn't the original flavor. Sopa de tortilla was also very salty. Meat stripes with no flavor. They need to improve everything my grandkids got tacos and was really hard to chew and personal needs to be more friendly. If you really want to make some changes you need to improve on everything! I know everything is expensive but at least try to cook better with the same taste if prices goes up it's fine but do not change flavors!!!
