January 2026: had an enjoyable little meal to try out a couple new (to me) things. I got the chili (has meat & beans) and a slice of the sausage veggie pizza. I believe the pizzas are "Detroit style" & tbh I didn't bother figuring out what that meant before eating, I kinda just wanted the surprise. Good pizza, I liked everything about it and added dried chili peppers & parmesan from those little paper packets. There's a GIGANTIC (I cannot over emphasize) variety of Faygo soda. Being a lifelong SoCal boy, the name & the vibe is kinda a lot to me but I've heard of it over the years and I think local Juggalos would think that's cool (from the little I know about them). There's a bunch of bottled beer & a handful of beers on tap. One of the tap selections is a strong, unflavored hard seltzer (8%) that they'll add Faygo, of your liking, to & is labeled Faygo seltzer on the tap handle. Seems interesting but I didn't try it. The other pizzas varieties sound decent, they have a drive through (but can take a bit to get, order time is ~<10 minutes even eating inside). They've got a lot to see & combos/deals as well as an "Angry hour" (instead of happy hour) and the purple Taco Bell icon, but angry lol, matching theme. Having been to the Taco Bell that was there before this place, bathrooms stank back then & continue to do so; but they have a bunch of fun, unserious things see in there at least.

As a Detroiter, I always went here for the Coney Dogs, then I had the pizza! Holy smokes is it good! It’s more than a taste of home because it’s better than most of the pizza I have back in Detroit. Highly recommend.

Angry Pete catered an event for me and killed it. The pizzas were amazing. Super creative pies with the best crust in town.
Not to mention, the service was great and the delivery was on time.
Angry Pete's is a San Diego treasure.
A photo of one of 12 pizzas!

This place looks like the old Taco Bell with an interior from the 80's was invaded by a guy who had a bunch of Detroit flags and TV's in his man cave, and knew how to make pizza and get a liquor license. I know this might make Pete even angrier, but the pizza was OK, the slice was small (iPhone 15 standard size for scale) , and the canned beer was not very cold.
I'll give Pete another chance because the price was right, and they have a pretty big menu with lots of different choices, but I hope they up their game enough to survive. Too much competition on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. They need to stand out with something to bring in the eaters
