I only lowered the stars, so service would stand out. I took my 13 yr old son for an early dinner. We were dressed super casual and we had the BEST interaction/experience with Case, our server. He engaged with me and my son (soccer jersey) in a “meeting us there” moment with his banter and service quality - making it memorable enough to my son to talk about it and praise him on the way home. He has never done that. Hence this review. Case for President. Ha. But seriously. Thank you, Case.

Coasterrs is located in downtown San Diego right near the bay. The view of the water was so relaxing. We went for happy hour. I don't really eat hot dogs. But, the mini bacon, onion, bell pepper hot dogs were delicious. They weren't salty or mushy. Also, tried the fried calamari and jalapeno dish. Seasoned really well and crispy to taste. Lot of great appetizers to choose from. Also, if you like, the bar made a smoked Old Fashion cocktail that made your toes curl.😁 You can try it with Rum, Bourbon or Whiskey. Enjoy!

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We had a reservation for 9 guests, but when we arrived, we were given a table very far away with no water view, even though there were better tables available. When we asked about the other tables, we were told they were reserved for another party, but no effort was made to accommodate us or offer any alternatives. They were very persistent on saying all tables are good but did not change our table!!!!!!!! What was most disappointing was the attitude of the manager and staff. The manager was just laughing and he did not care that we left! They were not polite, not welcoming, and did not seem to care that we had a reservation or that we were unhappy with the seating. We ultimately decided to leave because the experience started off so poorly. Customer service and attitude make a big difference, and unfortunately, this place did not meet expectations. This restaurant is all about the view and food is very basic!

We had a reservation, but did have to wait to be seated. Wasn't that long of a wait so it was fine. Servers, food runners, and bussers were all swift and provided good service. Complimentary chips and salsa upon seating. We ordered too much food and drinks and over ate. The outdoor seating was comfortable in the shade. The weather was lovely. The view was great. There is a small parking lots avaliable for self parking if you want to avoid valet. There is a sign there that says it is limited to 2 hours.

Our server Adrian was wonderful, very kind, and did everything right so NONE OF THIS SHOULD REFLECT ON HIM. However I think they only staffed 2 people for the entire outdoor section, meaning he was spread VERY thin and we were not attended to for a while. Drink was fine and came promptly. The queso fondido was absolutely abysmal. Like the entire top section of cheese was rock hard and molded together in an extremely un-appetizing chunk. Adrian had this removed from our bill but- wow how hard is it for a "Mexican Restaurant" to melt cheese? The calamari was extremely dry. The chicken tinga tostada and the wagyu burger were both adequate. Our mexican street corn took 90 minutes to arrive and was also very bad- I was convinced it wasn't coming so I didn't ask Adrian to cancel it. Wish I did but I genuinely felt bad asking for another thing off my bill because it seemed like he was trying so hard between tables and was also repulsed by the whole queso situation. And then upon leaving I had to prompt blondes #1 and #2 at the host stand for a "goodbye have a nice night" as they were neck deep in their screen time and didn't note two patrons leaving the place of business. Maybe it was the fact that I was already annoyed, and potentially a bit curt with my goodbye, but uhmmm unfortunately for blonde #2, the glass windows are very much see through and I saw her roll her eyes and say some snark to her coworker as I left. Yikes! Other: Portion sizes were good. Pretty view of the water. Very bad parking situation. Do with this what you will.
