Honestly. I have a craving for Ethiopian food often and this is the closest place to my house. When I go, It’s never busy but because of so much chatter between staff I have to wait to get my order taken. I always have to remind them to bring back utensils. I am always served with out utensils. The quality of the food is declining. My food was served barely warm, almost like it was microwaved and set or just food prepared goods before. I also have to always go to the front to get my check. No one ever asks “how is your mean or refill” there was dry wine on the floor. This place is dirty and not clean. I honestly won’t be back. I just don’t feel like a valued customer. One time I did have a great experience. But that it out of the 5-6 other times I came.

I was excited to eat here, but disappointed by so much of my dinner experience. First, I made a reservation online. I received an email and multiple text messages, plus confirmation leading up do the date (see photo). An important date--Valentine's Day! Showed up on time 7:00 pm and there was a line. I informed the staff I had a reservation for 7pm. So did 3 other couples in the line. No tables reserved for any of us. Seated 7:10 when a bunch of people finished & left. Nobody took our order until 7:40. It was a serious wait. Asked twice for our beers. Got beers at 8:00. Food came 8:05-8:10. Vegetable combo was not great. Cabbage and red lentils were the best. Side of awaze lamb tibbs was good. Potato, spinach and yellow lentils extremely bland. Nobody asked what spice level we wanted. I would have said extra spicy. I love Ethiopian food. This restaurant definitely caters to a blander palate than any other I've tried. I asked for spicy sauce, which never came. Injera beneath the combo was completely soggy. I wanted more dry injera but we didn't have a server to ask. Nobody visited our table again. I wished for a water refill all night long. Sugar packets on the table (for tea?) were dirty and covered in food dribbles from a previous customer. That was unpleasant. Ethiopian beer tasted great, despite being served warm. Then, after a whole dinner of inattentive service, our plates were whisked away immediately and the bill arrived without us asking. Time to go I guess! I was ready to chalk it up to a neighborhood restaurant that isn't used to high volume nights and give them another chance, before the final problem: my credit card payment. My card was taken away to be charged. Suddenly the woman at the next table asked, "Are you Alison?" Yes, why? The staff had given my paid bill and credit card to a different table. They were still eating. This woman, bless her, wanted to be sure she didn't assist with identity theft. She checked my ID before handing my credit card back to me. Literally, a random customer took better care of my credit card than the restaurant staff. It's one thing to have a busy night and make service mistakes. It's another thing to endanger a customer and hand their credit card to a stranger. That is negligence. I just scrolled reviews and I see that this HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. If you do eat here, keep a close eye on your card. That could have been a costly headache. I will not go back.

This was my first time trying any sort of African food in general, and I was NOT disappointed! The only sad part is that I've existed on this Earth for nearly 30 year and didn't know what I was missing...

I had no idea how amazing the cuisine could be. I'm newly vegan-adjacent and their menu has so many tasty options! We had the lunch buffet and bought another sampler platter to take home for dinner. And... if you like honey, pick up a bottle of their house-made Tej... a delicious honey wine!
