Joe’s Crab Shack offers a variety of favorites from all parts of the sea and shore. From its extensive menu, guests can choose from buckets of seasonal seafood, fried shrimp platters and fish dishes, as well as options from the “mainland” that include steak, sandwiches, and chicken. Guests can indulge in over-sized and creative cocktails, such as the Shark Bite which is playfully garnished with a shark toy.
Since its inception, Joe’s popularity has stemmed not only from its menu, but also its retail store. With various pieces of merchandise for purchase, including the ever-popular tie-dye T-shirt with the phrase “Peace, Love and Crabs,” Joe’s has become synonymous with the word “fun.” Unforgettable moments await at our Old Sac location and across the nation!

In my honest opinion, being that I have worked in the industry and dined out all over the US. This has got to be one of worst experience I have had. Bill came to over 60 per person which is fine, but the wait time alone to be seated took 35 minutes when there was plenty of available tables. Then once seated, took over 20 minutes to get a drink order in with the appetizer. No apology for the wait. No water was ever brought out at all during that time. Food was very bland, steak was terrible, cold, and had a rubbery texture. Seafood boil was a very average taste, appetizers were cold by the time they were brought out. My friend from out of town decided to get chicken of all things. Chicken was absolutely disgusting. I have eaten here 4 times over 10 years and the last time I had brought my girlfriend here, she had gotten food poisoning. We tried to write it off as a one off time, however it seems that the service, quality, and staff themselves are declining. I will not be returning anytime soon, nor do I think I would consider eating at this establishment again. I would have rather spent that $170 elsewhere or even spend more for a better experience.

Wow! This place is amazing. I was having a bad day and didn’t want to cook so I came here. My server was super nice and attentive. She was basically at my beck and call. Made the whole night soo much better. Kaitlyn was a super star. My drinks and order was spot on. Her recommendation on what to eat was super good, Something I hadn’t had before and it was really good. Kaitlyn is an amazing worker.

The server jeremieh was great gave us a great vibe and energy throughout the night he was helpful with any issues and concerns we had. There was an issue with one of the bartenders a female who was getting off the clock she was very rude and snappy and had side comments to say as she was walking out the door to leave and go home which we considered very unnecessary especially since she was already leaving for the night we felt her input on any issues were not needed. Once she left the new bartender was a great host and things became better but it still left a bitter taste for the environment.

Joe’s Crab Shack in Old Sacramento delivers a great river view that does a lot of the heavy lifting. The food is fine—solid and exactly what you expect when cracking shells in a tourist district—but the real surprise is the roaming singer with a guitar who strolls table to table like a seaside troubadour. Between the scenery and the live serenade, dinner becomes more entertaining than delicious, which somehow feels perfectly on brand for Old Sac.

Visited on a Monday, at Noon. Ordered calm chowder soup, and an appetizer that had (supposedly) crab meat served on corn chips with a sprinkling of kernels of corn, with Jalapeno slices. Salty, without considering the chips, the taste was nothing like there was crab in the thin, sticky white stuff that was stuck to the first layer of corn chips. The same complaint about the clam chowder; no clams, tasted like thick potato soup. The glass of Sauvignon Blanc was good, and my friend said that the Patron Margarita was okay.
