Sometimes I wish the security company that's contracted with Safeway would allow their guards to deal with the homeless population because it is homeless Central

It's a Safeway, the better one in town in my opinion. Nice workers, clean store.

Nice and clean store to shop for groceries. We stopped by for some freshly baked cookies and the snickdoodles tasted great.

First, its worth noting that I came by late at night to get some last minute essentials before settling into my hotel room nearby. As such, my expectations were quite low. If you walk into a store just before closing, you should expect to leave the staff alone, get your things, and let them finish up. As a former retail worker, I tend to avoid bugging the late shift right before they get off. There was plenty of parking, the isles were well kept, the staff I saw in passing were friendly and everything was well stocked. Pretty much everything you want in a grocery store late at night. Price wise, it was fairly standard. Nothing particularly surprising in the that department. Overall, I have no complaints. Additionally, their in store deli offerings all looked fresh and the sandwich I tried was pretty dang good. However... There were also several homeless people just hanging out around the front door and parking lot. I'm not going to blame the store for that but its of note. As a non-local, I'm unsure if this is specific to the store or just a problem Redding has. If you do come late in the night, just make sure you park in a well lit spot to avoid any potential safety issues. Oh, and give the pretzel sandwiches at the Boars Head counter a try. They hit a spot I didnt know I had.
