August 12, 2026 We love Subway subs in many places. We used to go to the one in Pointe-Claire , which, back then, true to Subway tradition, served excellent subs at reasonable prices. What has happened since? Change of management? Who knows, but on August 12, 2026, we decided to stop going to that Pointe-Claire Subway. They don't serve the real Subway there, that delicious six- or twelve-inch-long sub. Here's why, in short. 1- The service was good – no complaints there. It had nothing to do with our decision. 2- The bread: our six-inch Italian herb loaf seemed to have shrunk and was closer to a five-inch than a six-inch. We asked, as we always do, for it to be toasted. It must have been toasted too quickly or at too low a temperature. No heat at all. The flavor: it could have been any other loaf. We ended up eating a sub with a crumb that was difficult to chew due to its unusual elasticity. As far as we know, the bread is baked by the franchise employees using standard recipes that franchisees are required to follow. But following the recipe isn't enough, and every cook knows that. Have they changed staff? 3- The garnish: the salad seemed to have passed its prime, leaving sometimes stringy bits on the tongue. Very unpleasant. The black olives had a strange taste, as if they had previously been soaked in some kind of expired liquid. 3- The price: 30 percent more expensive than at other Subways we used to go, for the same product. As far as we know, franchisees set their own prices. 4- One unpleasant detail: the chips were usually displayed on a rack away from the counter, allowing customers to just serve themselves. On this day, August 12th, this rack was behind the counter, and the server handed you the bag you wanted. The attitude towards customers thus seemed less friendly. Usually, a six-inch sub is more than enough. Not this time. The taste? None, except sometimes that bizarre taste of some of the olive or maybe a hint of tuna. The price? Completely unrelated to the poor quality of the sub.
