It’s weird that Dairy Queen has an app, yet the app promotions aren’t valid for Quebec residents. Regardless, the cashier was kind enough to acknowledge this and genuinely understood my frustration

Unfortunately it seems to be closed although online it states that it is open (apparently it opens at noon). Other people were lingering at the entrance wondering why it wasn’t open as well.

I ordered online expecting my order to be ready when I arrived, which is usually the main benefit of ordering ahead. Unfortunately, while my cake was ready, the rest of the order had not even been prepared.
I waited quite a while, and there appeared to be only one employee working between approximately 2:30 and 3:00 PM, on a Wednesday. She was handling drive-thru orders, in-store customers, and online pickups all at the same time. I genuinely felt bad for her because she was clearly doing her best under difficult circumstances.
My frustration is not with the employee but with the staffing and online ordering process. If Dairy Queen offers online ordering, there should be enough staff to prepare orders before customers arrive. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of ordering ahead.
Perhaps a prepaid system with a designated preparation time would help ensure orders are ready for pickup. As it stands, the experience was disappointing and ended up being a significant waste of time.
I hope management addresses the staffing issue because the employee working that day deserved more support.
This version criticizes the process and management rather than the worker, which tends to be more effective and fair.
