This is, without question, one of the worst McDonald’s locations I have ever visited.
I initially stopped by for a simple coffee and joined the drive-thru. After waiting approximately 10 minutes without the line moving at all, I decided to leave the drive-thru, park my car, and go inside instead.
Upon entering, I immediately noticed a large crowd of customers waiting for their orders. While I understand rush periods happen..I actually worked at McDonald’s myself during my teenage years in Montreal, what I witnessed here went far beyond a normal lunch rush.
There was nobody available at the front counter, so I placed my order using the self-service kiosk. After paying, I discovered the receipt printer was out of paper and no receipt was issued. Since I had no order number, I had to flag down a staff member and explain the situation. Instead of printing my receipt, I was simply told my order number verbally.
While waiting, I overheard two customers behind me discussing how they had already been waiting over 5 minutes for nothing more than a coffee and muffin. Ten minutes later, they were still waiting.
The serving area was a complete mess. Bunch of coffee orders were sitting and unattended bags with orders that had been left ,the counter area was disorganized, and nobody appeared to be taking ownership of the situation. Despite a full staff being present, there was little sense of urgency. Staff members appeared to be casually chatting , most of them were by the fries area while customers continued piling up.
After approximately 20 minutes of waiting, my order had still not been prepared. The gentleman who ordered only a coffee and muffin before me was STILL waiting as well. At this point, I was concerned I would be late for an appointment and decided to request a refund.
Unfortunately, the experience only got worse.
The employee who appeared to be either an assistant manager or shift leader responded with an attitude from the moment I requested a refund. Rather than apologizing for the excessive wait, he questioned my decision and became argumentative. He repeatedly implied that I was being a “princess” for not wanting to wait longer and attempted to justify the delays by explaining there were only two people working in the kitchen.
(Something that I knew is pretty common and a normal standard)
As someone who has worked at McDonald’s before, I fully understand operational challenges. However, waiting over 20 minutes for a relatively simple order while customers who ordered a coffee and muffin are still standing there empty-handed is not normal. (Muffin and coffees are not prepared by kitchen) This is not a staffing issue, it is a MANAGEMENT ISSUE.
What stood out most was the complete lack of leadership. There was no sense of organization, URGENCY, or customer service. The drive-thru was equally chaotic, with vehicles honking at each other to back up as they have been waiting too long but were stuck.
Fast food is not expected to be instantaneous, but customers should not be waiting 20+ minutes for simple coffee orders while staff appear disengaged and management responds to legitimate concerns with insults.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this location desperately needs stronger leadership, better organization, and a serious review of its customer service standards. Based on this experience, I will not be returning.
