Food was great. But, it takes looking at pictures on the pdf menu and comparing to the limited pictures on the online and app menus to figure out what each item actually looks like because the pictures don’t match the menu items.

First, let me say how disturbing it was to walk in and see a man - looked like the owner maybe, toasting pita with his bare hands, touching his face, scratching his nose, wiping his hand on his shirt, and then return to touching the pita he was toasting. At the very least he should be wearing gloves - or maybe just not having any involvement in food prep whatsoever. On to the food. This review is for our takeout order. This food was not good. The falafel were overcooked, greasy and cold. They immediately broke apart and crumbled into burnt and dry pieces. They make their falafel with a divot in them - which is unnecessary if prepared using the proper ingredients and the proper oil temperature. Falafel should be made fresh to order and should be the last thing that goes into the bag. The baba ganoush maybe was made in house? doubtful, but even if so, where is the smoky flavor that is integral to a proper preparation? Completely bland. The Hummus was fine, also bland, and stood out in no way. My girlfriend ordered the Half-fired grilled chicken - which on the menu online has a picture of a mixed kebab plate - she was very disappointed as that's what she thought she was getting. She said that the chicken itself was fine, but nothing special. I tasted it and agree. The filet mignon beef shawarma sandwich was awful. The meat was about as far from filet as it's possible to get. chewy and gristly. I didn't honestly expect filet, but I most certainly did not expect the meat to be inedible. The cabbage salad was under-seasoned and over-dressed. Swimming in the dressing and soggy in a way that's difficult to achieve and not desirable with cabbage. I know that some people enjoy fries coated in corn starch to give them artificial crunch. I don't personally like that - it's a shortcut that doubles down on what makes fries unhealthy in the first place and does not taste good. No hot sauce? No Zhoug, no Amba, no Shatta? They have tabasco. Perfect indication right there that the authenticity of their fare is suspect. Even in a vacuum, the experience of this restaurant was extremely poor. But in light of the high quality of the restaurant it replaced - the outstanding "Playa's Pita" - it's particularly and acutely disappointing. I will not return.

This is some of the best Mediterranean food I have had in California. The service was excellent. The owner was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some place to have an excellent dinner near LAX at a reasonable price.
