I wanted to write a review as a person who frequents restaurants like BJs, Cheesecake, etc and somehow has never been to Lazy Dog. 100% recommend from food to ambiance, but above all, the service we experienced was nothing short of phenomenal. Our server Courtney was hospitable, considerate of a large family (with 3 littles), prompt, and our glasses were never empty. She gave recommendations of her favorites and was so kind, pacing our meal perfectly. The AGM/GM also stopped by to greet us and check in. Such a lovely experience. If all Lazy Dog restaurants have this level of service, we will definitely be back. Regardless, this Orange Lazy Dog won at all levels. Thanks Courtney for a fantastic dinner experience. Food we had and enjoyed: - Bonita house beer - Deviled Eggs - Any of the $15 meal deal - Brussel Sprouts - Dessert Cookies - Huckleberry Open Face Pie (perfection!)

One of my favorite spots recently because they offer great lunch options and deals. I highly recommend the pomegranate sangria pitcher, it’s refreshing and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet. Food portions are generous with reasonable pricing, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, plus it’s both kid-friendly and dog-friendly. Definitely a place worth coming back to!

The interior of the restaurant has a very cozy, almost lodge-like design. The staff were very helpful. My party was seated on a corner right next to the doors leading outside, but changed to a bar seating because we were getting blasted with cold wind whenever the door opened. The bartenders at the bar were very helpful and attentive. We were able to place our orders for food there. We ordered the Campfire Pot Roast, Bison Burger (medium rare) with tomato soup. The Campfire Pot Roast was fairly delicious. It comes with mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach, and roasted beef with gravy on the side. Eating all three together in one bite made for a very delicious, savory bite. I will say though that I thought the beef was a bit too salty. The Bison Burger was also fairly good. Nice, flavorful and juicy. My only complaint was that the cheese wasn’t fully melted onto the burger, so you had melted corners but the middle piece was still solid. Overall, the restaurant is good. The food was on the pricier side, but the atmosphere of the restaurant paired with the friendliness of the staff makes Lazy Dog a decent restaurant to go to for a meal.

The Lazy Dog was a pretty cool restaurant overall. They were able to accommodate our large family without any issues, and the wait time wasn’t too long, which is always a plus when dining with kids. Once we were seated, we were greeted by a friendly woman who seemed genuinely happy to help us get started with drinks. She did come back missing our water and two hot chocolates, but she let us know she’d be right back with them. One thing we appreciated was being able to order appetizers and the kids’ meals first, so the kids weren’t left starving while we waited. For appetizers, we ordered the firecracker shrimp and the pie tin nachos with carnitas. The firecracker shrimp was amazing—flavorful, perfectly cooked, and honestly delicious even on its own. That said, it became even better when I dipped it into the mustard sauce she had brought out for another dish. I also tried it with soy sauce and hot sauce, and while it didn’t need any sauce at all, combining all three somehow made the flavors pop even more. The spice level was just right, and the mustard (similar to a Dijon-style mustard) added an extra kick that really elevated the dish. The nachos were decent, but the cheese tasted more like a watered-down nacho cheese, which took away from what could have been a stronger appetizer. The kids’ meals included mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, and chocolate chip pancakes. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was pretty dry—almost like it was made using the leftover cheese from the nachos. The chicken nuggets were burnt all around, so the kids didn’t eat much of them. However, the fries that came with the nuggets were excellent: crispy, well-cooked, and not overly salty at all. My middle son didn’t care for the chocolate chip pancakes, but that’s likely because he doesn’t eat sweets very often. He ended up eating some of the little one’s chicken nuggets instead. Thankfully, the kids had a small breakfast earlier, so no one was too upset about not finishing their meals. My oldest son, on the other hand, had mashed potatoes with his chicken nuggets and absolutely loved them—he cleaned his plate. My husband ordered the grilled cheese with candied bacon and French fries, along with a side of tortilla soup. The grilled cheese was surprisingly good, and the candied bacon inside added a sweet-savory twist that really worked. Even my middle son tried it and liked it. The tortilla soup was also very good, especially with the side of tortilla strips topped with cheese. It’s known for being robust without being overly spicy, and we’d definitely agree—especially with the guacamole added on top, which balanced everything nicely. Last but not least, I ordered the blackened chicken burrito bowl. This dish was a bit bland overall and probably could have done without the salad, which was overly onion-heavy. That said, the chicken, rice, beans, and lettuce were all good, and the jalapeños added a nice touch of heat. I ended up adding some hot sauce on top, which helped bring more flavor to the dish. Overall, The Lazy Dog had some standout items and some misses, but the atmosphere, service, and a few really solid dishes made it a pleasant experience—especially for a large family.

Bottom Line Up Front: As a large restaurant chain, Lazy Dog will deliver good (but not great) food for premium prices. The cool thing about this franchise is that, as the name implies, it's canine-friendly so you can bring your pup (and sit outdoors) and order them food, too. We've visited several Lazy Dog locations in the past, but this review will focus on our last visit to this specific spot in Orange. The Food: We ordered the cheeseburger off the kid's menu and the Inside Out Quesadilla from the Larger Shareables section of the main menu. Despite it being for children, the kid's cheeseburger was basically a full-size burger, which itself was well done and rather dry. But the fries were crispy and tasty. The Quesadilla, while far from being authentic, was packed with gooey cheese and had a nice seared layer of crispy cheese on the outside. Since this was from the Larger Shareable section, it could have fed two people who wanted a light to moderate dinner. For drinks, we got the Tropic Sparkling Refresher (OJ, pomegranate, coconut-pineapple cream, and mint) and a Coke with Grenadine (to make a Cherry Coke clone). My wife loved the former drink (though it was a little too tart for me) while the Cherry Coke clone hit the spot even if it wasn't officially a Cherry Coke. The Service: Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable with solid recommendations. However, she seemed overloaded with a lot of tables and didn't return too often. Plus, our handheld Clover payment device gave us an error code; it required her to disappear for a while to reset our bill and place it on another device. I don't fault her for any of this and suggest that management beef up staffing and do a better job maintaining their equipment. The Location: The restaurant was clean, well organized, and beautifully decorated. It has an outdoorsy theme and, of course, plenty of dog paraphernalia. The Parking: Arrive at 7:40 p.m. on a Tuesday night, we expected the dinner rush to have passed. But the parking lot was nearly full. This was probably due to the patrons of the nearby Cinemark Century movie theater next door, along with several other restaurants in the same Stadium Promenade shopping complex. So expect it to be packed if you're going during peak hours or on the weekends. The Conclusion: Whether you're a canine lover or not, Lazy Dog will satisfy you as long as you are prepared for premium prices for above-average food. But if you're expecting Michelin-star quality or affordable prices, you might be barking up the wrong tree.
