We went out for dinner (well, we tried - read on) to East Side Mario's in Waterloo last night on the heels of a very positive experience at a location in Barrie. Said otherwise, my kids loved it and wanted to go again, so we did. The wait was long, it was busy. No problem. Once we got a table, we were promptly served waters and then experienced no service for 25 minutes. Nobody came to check on us, nobody took an order. This was after a 40 minute wait for a table. Mid-wait we flagged down a waitress and asked if we could be served. She went to notify the person serving our area. Nothing. We eventually got fed up and left. Ended up at Kelsey's down the street - were seated immediately and served almost immediately. Mistakes happen, but waiting 25 minutes to have an order taken after waiting 40 minutes for a table with kids is unacceptable. Its unlikely that we will be back to this location.

I took my daughter here for dinner tonight and just had the worst experience. There was an expected wait of 15 minutes at the door (no problem) and then the server was with a large group before taking our order which was fine. Between us placing our order and finally getting our food it was 1.25 hours. The server was great the whole time, bringing bread and refilling our drinks and explaining that the kitchen was backed up. Two tables who ordered before us were served before us and when my daughter finally got her food it was missing an element (the pasta was missing from her mini sampler).
The server offered to have the manager come talk to us which also took 20mins. We were given a discount on our food but never received an apology.
There were pizzas sitting under heat lamps for 20+ minutes. Salads sitting on the salad station for the same amount of time. Flies. So many flies.
We had a similar experience about 6 months ago and this was our first time back since. We should have learned from that last time.
We won’t be back. More than an hour for chain restaurant food is ridiculous

First time to Waterloo! Been in Canada 3 years now. Was pretty emotional as I was dropping my son to university. Alone with my thoughts my family wanted home vibes… my eldest Googled best Alfredo near me. We noted an Eastside 8 min from Hotel! …. Greeted by a lovely host, Eva. Apologies for the wait we can seat you in less than 10 minutes. Never truly an issue for me when I have to wait I asked her if we can grab some drinks at the bar. She has escorted us over and that’s when we were greeted by a gentleman named Rahul.. The bartender was busy serving tables and she was so sweet I didn’t get her name. Your serve our drinks and shortly after two sips Eva came to Walk us to our table. We have been to an East side Mario’s before in St Catharines and we thoroughly enjoyed the service and the food every time we’ve been Bhoomi Greeted us, took our order and was always on top of her game making sure that all tables were being attended to. This particular restaurant was spotless and busy, and everybody had smiles. I would just like to thank everyone on this team for making our emotional dinner so special so now we have a tradition when we visit our son at the university we will make this our family restaurant. Keep doing the jobs that you do thank you from the Clarke family.

Today was my first time at East Mario, and unfortunately, I was not happy with the experience.
First, I didn’t feel welcomed. The waitress who served us had a lot of attitude, and the way she spoke to us was not friendly or welcoming. I understand that we were a large group, but that shouldn’t mean the service has to feel uncomfortable.
We had to call her a couple of times before she came to take our orders. She brought the salads and soups, and then another waitress came and explained that the chef had changed, so the food would take a little longer. She offered to bring refills of the salad and soup while we waited, which I appreciated.
Our group started arriving around 3:00–3:15 p.m., and the food didn’t arrive until around 4:40 p.m., so we waited for well over an hour. Unfortunately, the food itself was just okay—not the best.
The second waitress who took over later was much nicer and more pleasant, and I appreciated her attitude and service.
Overall, I would give the service 2/5. The long wait and the attitude really affected the experience. Unfortunately, I don’t think I would go back, and based on my experience today, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Ordered my a fettuccini Alfredo meal from here tonight. My order sat waiting for the rest to be done, 40 minutes. The gentleman with the crappy attitude tells me they just plated it, BS. I got it home the top noodles were dry and discoloured because they sat for 40 minutes drying out, look at the garbage they sent home to me, absolutely cold dry, zero garnish absolutely thrown together. Sir in the green shirt and light pants, who said he knew Italian cooking, pasta turns dry, sticky in as little as 30 mins aaaaaaand you just plated this dry pasta and served it, as a sous chef or Expo, should have seen the quality wasn’t there, it’s not nice to fabricate. Never will I return, just because of that gentleman’s attitude and the fact he treated my food as good enough. Also thanks for that nice lettuce core, good job guys! Same generic response, hide behind the corp and avoid accountability, another reason why I will never return to this restaurant and I’ll let my team know also. Just look at the dinner, hey owner, just answer one question, would you proudly serve this dish in the picture, just let us know.
