This local has gone downhill! We sat down for supper and battled drain flies or what's called filth flies during our whole meal till son found.one in his dinner! Didn't land.on his.plate.it came that way from the kitchen. The manager made it up.up to us by giving us 20% off...not the whole meal one dinner a whole $4.40 cents from a $200.00 dollar dinner. I will refrain from going to this location and advise others to do.so till the get their pest control program in check and their sanitation program revised.

We had a very disappointing experience while celebrating a friend’s birthday. While the food was great as always, the service was terrible. In an hour and a half a drink that was finished within 10 minutes was not refilled at all despite being at the end of the table and clearly in view. When we’d ask questions or for simple things like a spoon or more napkins, we could only get one request out before our server Maya would quickly turn away and then take a very long time before checking in again. We instantly got a feeling of not being liked which is very unprofessional. At one point we were told we could only ask for one bread at a time (for our group of four) after having just watched her bring out four at a time for another table. Normally we are very empathetic of people having a hard day or a busy time, but service did not improve as the restaurant cleared out and with so many other small things adding up, we just got a sense of being unwelcome.

Our recent visit was unfortunately very disappointing. The biggest issue was that were also numerous small flies around our table throughout the meal. We weren't the only customers commenting on them, so it appeared to be an ongoing issue rather than an isolated incident. It made it difficult to enjoy our meal. Our meals also did not come out at the same time, so some of our group had almost finished eating before others even received their food. It really took away from the experience of dining together. Some of us ended up taking our food to go because of the wait and flies all over the table. To make matters worse, one of the dishes was unexpectedly spicy, even though the menu gave no indication that it contained any spice. Accurate menu descriptions are important, especially for guests who avoid spicy food. My mom could not enjoy the food or even eat it at all. Overall, the combination of slow, poorly timed service, the fly problem, and inaccurate menu descriptions made for a very disappointing experience. We have always enjoyed East Side Mario's in the past, but this visit fell well below our expectations. We hope these issues are addressed so future guests have a much better experience.

I have been coming here for years, and the food, atmosphere, and service have always been great, but I did not enjoy my last visit at all. I visited on June 29, 2026, which was actually my birthday. It was a Monday, and the restaurant was not busy at all. When we arrived, I asked to be seated in a booth. The manager made a bit of a stink about it, saying there wasn’t a server working the booth section, even though the restaurant was far from busy. It should never be about convenience for your staff. It should always be about the customer. Unfortunately, the pizza has gone downhill and is now comparable to what you would get from a cheap street corner pizza shop. The prices have also increased drastically over the years, while the portion sizes have become much smaller, making it difficult to justify the cost. We also ordered two 21 oz. beers, and when they were brought to our table, the glasses were only about three-quarters full. I ordered a fountain drink for my daughter, and even with ice, the pop wasn’t cold and tasted like warm, extremely watered-down pop. For such a slow Monday night, the service was terrible. Our waitress didn’t check on us for long periods of time and didn’t ask if we wanted more bread or salad. We had to ask ourselves. I also noticed that the interior of the building, including the ceiling areas and the air conditioning vents, was covered in dirt, which was disappointing and unsanitary to see. This location has certainly gone downhill over the years, and unfortunately, we will not be returning.

We recently visited East Side Mario's in Waterloo and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and we were seated right away. Our waitress promptly took our drink orders and returned shortly after to take our food orders. Our salad and one loaf of bread were brought to the table, but after that, we didn't see our waitress again. We tried repeatedly to get her attention because we wanted more bread, but we simply couldn't find her anywhere. Eventually, another employee brought out our meals. I ordered the Chicken Tetrazzini, but I wasn't even given a spoon, just the fork that had been left at the end of the table when we were first seated. While my husband and daughter started eating, I continued trying to get the attention of our waitress or anyone else. After quite some time, I finally managed to catch our waitress just as she was rushing past another table. I had to speak up quickly before she disappeared again. I explained that we had been trying to get her attention for more bread and a spoon for my pasta. I also mentioned that my Chicken Tetrazzini was extremely dry and contained only two very small pieces of chicken. In addition, my husband's sampler platter was noticeably smaller than what we've received on previous visits. She quickly said she'd get the manager and hurried away. A manager was certainly not necessary but we were simply looking for a solution to a few minor inconveniences. The manager came to our table, still without a spoon, and I explained everything again. His response was that they prepare everything according to head office's specifications, but he said he would bring me more sauce so it wasn't dry. Honestly, it wasn't a lack of sauce, it appeared to have sat under a heat lamp for too long and the edges of the pasta were hard. He returned shortly after with our bill and a takeout container. There was still no sauce, no bread, and no spoon. This entire situation could have been avoided if someone had simply checked on our table at any point and especially after our food was served. My husband and daughter finished their meals while I packed mine up to take home because I couldn't properly eat it, nor at this point did I even want it. Only after I had paid did the manager finally bring me more sauce. What was most disappointing wasn't just the food, it was the complete lack of service, empathy, and follow through. A sincere apology, a little understanding, and simple solutions like bringing a spoon, more bread, or replacing a dry meal would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning.
