I’ve been to Olive Garden in the States before, so hearing that there was finally an Olive Garden in Canada was great news! I decided to visit the Vaughan Mills location on Friday, August 14th for lunch around 1:30 PM, and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint. One thing to note is that you can’t make a reservation in advance, you have to join the waitlist in person. However, I actually found the waitlist system really convenient because it gave us live updates online showing our place in the queue and how many parties were ahead of us. The estimated wait was about 50 minutes, but since we were already at Vaughan Mills, we were able to spend that time browsing the mall. We ended up getting a message that our table was ready after only about 40 minutes, which was a nice surprise! Our server, Noah, was exceptionally pleasant throughout the entire meal. He was attentive without being overbearing, checked in on us regularly, and kept our breadsticks replenished, which I really appreciated. I ordered the Tour of Italy, which came with a choice of soup or salad. I really enjoy restaurants that give you that option because by the time my main course arrived, I was already getting full! 😂 The meal looked amazing and, honestly, tasted better than some Italian pasta dishes I’ve had at much more high-end restaurants. The portions were generous enough that I had plenty of leftovers to take home, and we were even given extra breadsticks to take with us. I also came with a vegetarian friend, and we were happy to see that there are **plenty of vegetarian options** available. It’s always nice when everyone in the group has several choices rather than feeling limited to one or two dishes. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for from Olive Garden. The only downside is the wait time, but that’s understandable given that this is still a relatively new location and it’s clearly very popular. The fact that it’s inside Vaughan Mills definitely helps because you can shop and browse while waiting rather than just sitting around. **9.8/10 — amazing food, amazing service, and a great overall experience. I’d definitely return!** Definitely come hungry! you won’t be disappointed! 🍝🥖

Unfortunately, a regrettable experience at Olive Garden tonight. My friend and I visited for nostalgia and after having fond memories of previous Olive Garden experiences in the US. However, this experience at Olive Garden Vaughan Mills was extremely lacking. Once inside after a 45 minute wait, it took another 15 minutes to our server attend to our table. They never came so I had to get up and find someone myself who was cleaning a table to request a move as the table we were initially seated t was under a very strong ceiling fan blowing cold air on the table. Once seated at the new table, we waited another 10 minutes for our server to introduce themselves and take our drink and food order. They were out of iced tea and I ordered another bottomless drink. We ordered and waited another 20 minutes before we received any breadsticks and our drinks. Our mains eventually arrived and upon eating, I discovered that the I was served the lasagna which had meat comprised of beef and pork. I do not eat pork and requested at the time of ordering to have 2 orders of the chicken parmesan in the platter which comes with 3 servings of your choice. I advised our server of their error and they acknowledged the error and indicted that they will get the correct order right away. We then had to wait another 30 minutes of have the correct chicken parmesan brought out to the table. By this time, the other food was cold and we were already in the restaurant for nearly an hour and half before our complete meal was served. Throughout the meal, I requested extra napkins which were never delivered and I was never offered a refill on my bottomless drink. There was a fly buzzing around, landing on the breaksticks. We were offered cheese for the soups but that was few and far between any check-ins from our server throughout the evening. Due to the length of time we were already in the restaurant, we had to leave in a hurry when the bill and take out containers eventually arrived at our table, another 15 minutes after requesting same. Upon review of the receipt after paying the bill, I noticed that I was charged for the chicken parmesan that was incorrectly left out of my order earlier. I feel quite ripped off by this experience because the service was so slow and I was incorrectly served food that I previously advised that I do not eat, and was charged for their error, not to mention that the meals and drinks were already on the pricey side. Overall, we were sitting and waiting for things (food, drinks, bill, takeout containers) for more time than we were actually eating what we had ordered. I feel like the servers are quite inexperienced and the customer service and attention to detail in serving the correct food and even compiling the bill, is extremely lacking. Although the food items were tasty (ie. gnocchi soup, fettucine alfredo and frittas), the dining experience and the fact that I was overcharged for their error left a bad taste. I would avoid this restaurant if you are looking for smooth and enjoyable dining experience. It doesn't give much confidence in having a smooth dining experience if the customer has to double check their order to ensure accuracy and ask for accountability. This is something the server or other staff should have recognized before meals are served to the table, especially if there is a food allergy or dietary restriction that they were advised of. I hope that management reviews the many reviews that flag the slow service and inexperience to improve the dining experience and live up to the potential of a reliable family restaurant. The many customers who are visiting this restaurant on Olive Garden's goodwill and nostalgia deserve more and maybe will give this location another chance if future customers indicate positive changes have been made.

Disappointing First Experience at the New Ontario Location Located between Tim Hortons and Joe Fresh and close to Bass Pro Shops, this location has both an exterior entrance and an entrance directly from the mall. Having visited their American locations before, I was happy to find that the food quality here was on par with what I’ve experienced there. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering this Ontario location has only been open for about a month. My biggest concern was the service, which I felt was not yet sufficiently trained or prepared for such a highly anticipated grand opening. The estimated wait time was actually quite accurate. I was told there would be approximately a 1 hr 15 mins wait, and we were seated after about 1 hr and 20 mins. However, I would not recommend the 3 booths near the mall entrance. It felt like this section was easily overlooked, and you also miss out on much of the restaurant experience. I was told that because I had a stroller, I needed to be seated there, although I noticed other strollers inside the restaurant and saw tables that appeared to be available. I didn’t want to make an issue of it, so we stayed where we were seated. Our server was very nice and clearly trying her best, but I feel she needs more training, guidance, and support. It may also have been the section she was assigned to that made it more difficult for her to provide attentive service. Our meal took over 2 hours to complete, largely because our server rarely returned to the table and several things were forgotten. At times, we had to wait simply to get the basic items needed to begin eating. For example: - Our appetizer arrived after a long wait, but there were no side plates or utensils, so we had to wait even longer before we could eat. - My soup came with a teaspoon instead of a soup spoon. - My salad arrived without serving tongs or side plates. - Our drinks arrived afterward, but my pop didn't come with a straw. - We had to remind our server about the breadsticks. - Dishes weren't cleared promptly, even when our server did return to the table. At one point, I had so much time waiting that I actually started gathering and stacking some of our finished dishes myself to make things easier for the server. Even during the few times she came back to check on us, the dishes still weren't cleared. Unfortunately, it wasn't just our table. I noticed the other two tables in the same area experiencing similar issues, including frustration over the lack of service and not receiving utensils or basic items needed to start their meals. One table was actually forgotten and moved at least twice because no server came over to greet them. Eventually, the hostess moved them into the main dining area. On a positive note, the washrooms were clean, and I was happy to see baby changing tables in both the men's and women's washrooms, which is a great family-friendly feature. And that the estimated wait times were quite accurate. Overall, I left feeling quite disappointed. The food quality and portions were what I expected, but the service significantly affected the overall experience. I understand that this is still a very new location and that staff are likely still adjusting, so hopefully these issues will improve with time and additional training. I would consider returning for the food, but next time I would request a table inside the main dining area. At least there, if my server happens to miss something or doesn't come by, there are other staff members nearby who may be able to assist. One suggestion I would have for management is to consider assigning someone to periodically walk through the dining room and perform a quick quality check at every table—especially during busy periods. I noticed several staff members standing and chatting at the bar when there were tables waiting for assistance, as well as multiple hostesses at the host stand when they could potentially have helped check on guests.

For my first time at Olive Garden, I am pretty disappointed. This restaurant usually gets a lot of hype, especially on social media, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype at all. The first issue was the wait time. We arrived around 1:30 PM on a Saturday and were told there was a 2-hour waitlist. The wait itself was not too big of an issue since Olive Garden is located inside a mall, so we walked around while waiting. We were eventually seated at around 4 PM. I wish reservations were available to avoid wasting so much time. I'm sure the wait times will die down eventually, especially since Olive Garden in Ontario is still fairly new. Inside the restaurant, the atmosphere was nice and the washrooms were clean. However, the music was a bit too loud. The second issue was the food. I went into this experience with high expectations, but barely any of them were met. The prices were pretty high, probably because of the unlimited breadsticks and soup or salad. I ordered the Tour of Italy with Chicken Gnocchi Soup. The breadsticks weren't anything crazy, but they weren't bad either. They had a salty, garlicky taste and were pretty soft. The Chicken Gnocchi Soup was AMAZING. It was nice, warm, and cheesy. However, there was no chicken or gnocchi in it, which was pretty confusing. I definitely recommend dipping the breadsticks into the soup, though. The salad was also good, with no complaints from me. I also ordered the Classic Lemonade, which came with unlimited refills. It was sweet and sour, exactly what you are looking for in a lemonade. Up until this point, the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, the Tour of Italy was super disappointing. The lasagna was solid, the fettuccine Alfredo was okay but nothing special, and the chicken Parmesan was flat-out average. In fact, it was probably the worst chicken Parmesan I've ever had. The portion of chicken was small and there was barely any sauce. The fettuccine Alfredo was also overcooked and tough. Our total came to $40.77 for one Tour of Italy and one Classic Lemonade. The service did make our experience better. Our server was very kind, brought us all of our refills, and didn't forget the chocolate at the end! Overall, this negative review isn't about the service. The service was great. My main complaints are the high prices, mediocre food, small portions in the Tour of Italy, long wait times, and the food quality not matching the price. I probably won't be coming back unless some of these issues are fixed. It's a good place to try once just to see what the hype is about, but in my opinion, it's not somewhere worth waiting hours for.

TL; DR--couldn't sit my group all together (11 people in total), split us up into 6 and 5 and put us in different areas; service is very uneven, and quite slow; erred on one receipt (added an entrée); we were rushed out. Buckle up, this is a long one. We arrived just after 3pm in anticipation of eating around 4; it was a birthday dinner for myself and 10 friends. I was told they could only sit 6 of us in one booth, the other 5 would have to sit across the restaurant. My friend mentioned it was my birthday, so the hostess mentioned she would try and get booths closer together, but it would be an hour wait. No worries, some of my friends were stuck in traffic anyway. I was told they would text me when the tables were ready and we had 15 minutes to get back and check in, so my friend and I went to walk through the mall. About 15 minutes later, got a text that the table was ready. Get back, the hostess says our table isn't ready. We wait about 5 minutes, then get sat in a booth. I am told that the booth next to me is paying their cheque, so it will be available for my other friends when they arrive. I order a drink and an appetizer while waiting; apparently they are out of diet Pepsi, so I have to have Pepsi Zero instead. Both take awhile to arrive. We decide to order our entrees while we wait. We did get a few refills of bread sticks, but weren't offered a refill of salad (3 of us had salad, 3 had soup, they were offered refills of soup which they declined). The salad was "old", with quite a few brown pieces of lettuce, and the tomatoes were soggy. My friend was brought the completely wrong drink. I practically had to beg for refills of the soda throughout the meal. By this time, they had "given away" the booth that was beside mine, and said they would "figure it out" when my other friends arrived. When they arrived, they were sat in the "upper" area--it is only 2 or 3 steps, but one person uses a walker so it was challenging. It was also well away from where I was sitting. After waiting about 45 minutes, our entrees came out staggered, but within 6 or 7 minutes of each other. The mushroom ravioli was decent, but slightly undercooked. Because I have signed up for emails, I got an email for a complimentary dessert, and I had mentioned this to the waitress at the start of the meal. She brought that out as soon as we finished eating, but didn't ask if anyone else wanted anything, or if we wanted coffee or tea (which we did, but obviously didn't get a chance to order). We then finished and paid, and one of the receipts had my entrée on them, despite having been paid for on a different receipt. Meanwhile, my other friends hadn't even received their entrees yet! We went to Timmies for a coffee, and waited for my other friends to finish. It was quite disappointing and not how I had anticipated having dinner with friends that I don't get to see very often. (Honestly, we would have been better going to the food court--at least we would have had a shot at sitting near each other, and being able to eat at around the same time.) Very generously giving it 2/5 overall. I doubt I will go back (it is a good 25 minute drive for me); for the overall experience and food, it is too pricey and there are definitely better restaurants out there.
