I had a great time at The Chef Upstairs and particularly with our hosts Bonni and Adamo!!! Our whole team at Nazarian Law attended for a cooking competition and we absolutely LOVED IT!! We had so much fun and had a great meal to share together. We laughed, we learned and we ate well!

Had such an amazing experience at the cooking class with our office team! A huge thank you to Adamo and Bonni for making the entire evening so warm, fun, and memorable. They were incredibly patient, caring, and attentive throughout the class, always making sure everyone felt comfortable and involved.
You can truly see the passion they bring to what they do, not just teaching recipes, but creating an experience people genuinely enjoy. We laughed, learned so much, and left with full hearts (and stomachs!).
Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun team activity or just a wonderful evening out. Thank you again, Adamo and Bonni!

I booked a cooking class online as a gift for my son and his girlfriend for both of their birthdays at the Mount Pleasant location. The overall experience that they had was terrible!! They informed me that you do not "cook" at these classes. At the most, you chop some of the ingredients and then watch a chef cook for everyone. For $150 per person the classes should be much more hands on. Longo's offers similar cooking classes and it is a third of the cost!!
In addition, the night that my son and his girlfriend went, they were greeted by the hostess upon their arrival and told that cocktails were being made - would they like one? There was no mention to either of them of cost. In fact, nowhere was there anything posted about purchasing drinks nor was there anything posted that showed the cost of each drink. This is very deceptive for new patrons, especially ones who did not book the class on their own. Although the website does state that drinks are for purchase, patrons, like my son, who did not purchase this expensive cooking class "experience" themselves, should be told clearly IN PERSON that the drinks come at a cost. That way they are not surprised by a bill for expensive drinks that they did not expect as they leave. It also cannot be expected that those making the reservations will note the policy or remember to communicate the policy to people that they are gifting the classes to, especially if the reservations are made months ahead.
If you want a TRUE cooking class experience STAY CLEAR of this company and be weary that if you do go, you will be a bystander - drinking expensive drinks and watching someone else do most of the cooking. If you like that - try Longo's for a more affordable experience that also CLEARLY posts their drinks for purchase.

My husband and I joined a Mexican themed cooking class last night with The Chef Upstairs at their midtown location and had ourselves an amazing time! Chef Obi was engaging and attentive and gave clear instruction. It was a very community based cooking class so we got to interact with other people in the class. I also really enjoyed that we tried our hand at different stations and jobs so never got bored. I volunteered for more tasks and my hisband was happy to try two or three. As he put it "I worked only as hard as I wanted to" 😅 The food was incredible and the margaritas were to die for! We will definitely be doing another one of these classes, it was such a cool experience!
