    The Local Take

I’ve been to Kelly’s Landing multiple times, and it’s always been a solid spot. This visit we ordered the nachos and the steak sandwich. The nachos were absolutely amazing—loaded with toppings, fresh, and packed with flavour. They’re definitely something I’d order again. The steak sandwich, however, was a bit underwhelming. The steak was on the dry side and could have used more seasoning and flavour to make it more enjoyable. The service was excellent as always. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out quickly. The prices were also very reasonable for the portions and overall experience. I’ll definitely be back, and I’d highly recommend the nachos if you’re visiting.

Kelly’s Landing was the perfect spot for our group of three couples celebrating milestone anniversaries. The atmosphere was lively and ideal for a pre-concert evening, with great energy throughout the space. The food and drinks flowed at a great pace, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavourful and well-prepared. A special thank you to Caitlin for her exceptional service. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure our celebration felt special from start to finish. We also really appreciated the team accommodating our request for regular seated tables instead of high tops…it made the experience much more comfortable for our group. Our only criticism was that the speakers were quite loud, which made it difficult to have conversations, we often found ourselves raising our voices just to hear each other. Aside from that, it was a fantastic evening and we would happily return.

Was not impressed by our waiter! I could tell he was trying to upsell us on every item. I asked a passing waitress for some Tabasco sauce. She kindly brought it over. My waiter then proceeds to bring over something he called “house sauce”?. He then said go ahead and use whichever you like. I find out later he charges me extra for that “house sauce”! The last straw was when he asks our group if we want refills on our beer. One of us says maybe later…. He then replies “just to let you know, the bar is backed up”! Right.. I could see through him easily. I would have given Kelly’s Landing a much better review if it weren’t for him.

Went here yesterday afternoon for my sister's birthday and was pretty excited until I started eating. I got the wagyu beef gyoza and the steak sandwich. The gyoza were quite underwhelming considering they were wagyu, pretty bland filling that was underseasoned. The sauce that came with it was really good though and definitely made it enjoyable. The steak sandwich was a massive disappointment, nearly inedible. The moment it arrived to the table I was confused by the puddle of liquid on the plate that the sandwich was sitting in, when I asked the waitress said "it's part of the way they make it". I took her word for it but when I picked it up it was so saturated my thumbs went right through the bread and it fell apart while pouring out more liquid. Ontop of that I asked for the steak to be medium-rare but it was medium-well. I had maybe 3 bites but was grossed out by how insanely wet the sandwich was, and when I say wet I mean WET! Side caesar salad was also bland with not much dressing and plain croutons. Overall the experience wasn't bad and the majority of the food was ok but I expected alot better for those prices. Also the waitress gave some attitude at the end when my father had to ask for the bill a second time, it wasn't much but she was clearly irritated when he mentioned it a second time. I won't be returning and it doesn't sound like the rest of my family will either.

We visited as a group for a team event, with colleagues coming in from across the country. The preparation process was well organized — completing the group form was smooth and efficient. The initial reception was positive, but service felt stretched. Our waitress seemed quite busy, even though the restaurant itself appeared relatively quiet. The bread was excellent, and most entrées were good. However, the steak frites was a clear disappointment. It wasn’t offered medium-rare — only medium — and what was served came out well done, even overcooked. Given the business context, no one wanted to raise the issue at the table, only for us to later realize that every steak ordered by the group was overcooked. It did raise questions about the kitchen’s cooking approach. What left a particularly sour note was the billing policy. We were charged for 3 out of 17 guests who did not attend. While I understand enforcing a policy for a full no-show, applying it in this situation felt unreasonable. Overall, a disappointing experience. It may be better suited to a younger, more casual crowd than a professional group setting. In hindsight, a group reservation didn’t add value — it came with a deposit, rigid policies, limited flexibility, and no clear upside. Next time, we would likely skip the group booking altogether or choose a different venue.
