I had a very disappointing experience with the KFC on Arthur St in Thunder Bay.
I ordered an 8-piece chicken meal with two fries and an additional large gravy for delivery while I was at work. When my food arrived and I was about to have my dinner, I counted the chicken and realized that I only received 6 pieces instead of the 8 pieces I paid for.
I immediately called the store to report the two missing pieces. While explaining what I received, I mistakenly described the pieces as two legs and four thighs. The employee told me that one was actually a rib, and I immediately acknowledged it and said yes, the other piece was a rib. Instead of focusing on the fact that I only received SIX pieces, she became argumentative and kept insisting that she personally packed my order and was sure that all 8 pieces were there.
Her tone and the way she spoke to me made it seem like I was lying or making up the missing chicken simply because I initially called one of the pieces a thigh instead of a rib. Regardless of which chicken parts I received, the issue was very simple: I counted 6 pieces when I paid for 8.
I was honestly shocked by how I was treated. I was at work trying to have my dinner. I have no reason to waste my time calling a restaurant, arguing on the phone, and putting my credibility on the line over two pieces of chicken if they weren’t actually missing. I called because I paid for 8 pieces and only received 6.
The employee also raised her voice and continued arguing with me rather than simply addressing the missing items. What was even more disrespectful was that she ended the call without asking whether I was finished speaking.
I was eventually told that the two missing pieces would be sent, but I now had to wait approximately another 40 minutes for food that should have been included in my original delivery. By then, the rest of my dinner would already be cold.
Mistakes happen, and I would have completely understood if someone simply apologized and corrected the order. What I don’t appreciate is being treated like I’m dishonest for reporting a legitimate mistake.
This complaint isn’t about trying to get two free pieces of chicken. I already paid for them. It’s about receiving an incomplete order and then being spoken to rudely when I asked for what I paid for.
Very poor customer service and an extremely disappointing experience with this location.
