  Well, that's the last time I will ever set foot in Five Guys in Stittsville. Today, I was verbally assaulted and physically intimidated by a complete stranger while I was simply trying to get lunch for my daughter and her friend. A man who was at least six feet tall and heavyset became enraged because I walked past him. He kicked at my ankle in an attempt to trip me, then followed me to the counter and screamed in my face, calling me names and verbally abusing me. I tried to ignore him. I continued to the counter because I was there for the third time trying to find out where my children's milkshakes were. But he wasn't finished. He came within inches of my face and continued screaming at me at the top of his lungs. I had two children with me. They were extremely upset by what was happening. And here's what makes this even worse: not one member of staff did anything. There were approximately 40 people in the restaurant. Not one staff member told this man to stop. Not one asked him to leave. Not one came over to see if I was OK while he was screaming in my face. Not one checked on my children afterwards. The only response I got was someone finally starting to make the milkshakes I'd been asking about while this man was standing there screaming at me. When the girl behind the counter eventually handed me the drinks, all she said was, "It's OK." No. It wasn't OK. I took the drinks back to my table because I had two children with me. I was shaking so badly afterwards that I couldn't even eat my food. The woman at the table next to me was actually the only person who asked if I was alright. I appreciate that more than she probably realizes. I understand that staff can't necessarily know what happened between two customers, and I don't expect employees to put themselves in danger. But when a large man is screaming inches from a woman's face inside your restaurant, after already attempting to trip her, surely someone should intervene or at the very least check that the person being targeted is OK. Where was the manager? Where was anyone? I will never step foot in another Five Guys restaurant again. If this is considered an acceptable way for customers to behave in their restaurants — and an acceptable response from their staff — then I honestly don't know what to say. They should be ashamed of how this was handled.

  was ordering a burger shortly before closing. While my burger and bun were being prepared, an employee was putting the ventilation filters back in place above the food, and dirty water was dripping directly onto my food. I was very concerned about the hygiene and food-safety standards. I really hope the hygiene standards here are not starting to drop like we’ve noticed at Tim Hortons.
