The ONLY reason I go to this location is because it has the play place for my grandson, and he’s too young to understand the nonsense that goes on there.
The staff are unbelievably lazy, and many of the parents treat the play place like it’s a free daycare. If there’s an issue and you go to the staff, they just stare at you like deer in headlights. Honestly, this place is going to get sued one day — if not by me, then by someone else.
My grandson actually stopped wanting to go for a while because kids kept getting physical with him, which clearly came from entitled parenting and lack of supervision. We put him in martial arts, so thankfully that’s no longer an issue.
Today was another example. One mother sent her tiny toddler into the play structure with a bunch of much bigger kids. Of course the child came out with a goose egg — what exactly did she think was going to happen?
THEN another parent let their child go into the play structure alone carrying a falling-apart burger while the parent stood outside waiting. Food was getting everywhere inside the play area. Of course I said something, and apparently that means I’m “telling people how to parent.”
Sorry, but I don’t want someone’s kid dragging a half-eaten burger through the play structure for my grandson to step in.
This place seriously needs better supervision — from BOTH staff and parents.
I had a horrible experience at the McDonald’s in Meadowvale Town Centre and I cannot recommend it. I’m giving it 1 star because there was nothing positive about the visit. The place was not clean, the service was poor, and the overall condition of the restaurant was disappointing.
The first thing you notice walking in is that it’s not clean. The floors were dirty with visible food, napkins, and drink spills in multiple spots. It looked like they hadn’t been mopped in hours. There were shoe marks and sticky patches near the counter and by the drink station. You had to watch where you stepped. For a fast food place that gets heavy traffic, cleaning the floors should be constant. It was clear no one was keeping up with it.
The tables were just as bad. Almost every table had crumbs, sauce stains, or leftover trays on it. We had to walk around to find one that was even usable, and then we still had to wipe it down ourselves with napkins because there were no staff cleaning. Half-eaten fries and ketchup smears were left out like the last customers had just walked away seconds ago. There were open seats but no clean ones. That’s unacceptable during lunch hours when you know it’s going to be busy. A manager should be making sure tables are bussed and wiped every few minutes.
The garbage bins were full and overflowing. Customers were stacking trays and cups on top because there was nowhere else to put them. Some trash had fallen to the floor around the bins and no one was picking it up. The smell near the garbage area was strong. When bins are full, it tells you staff are not checking the dining room. It takes two minutes to swap a bag, but no one was doing it. It makes the whole place feel neglected and unsanitary.
Service was poor from the moment we got in line. There were only two tills open despite a long line. Staff at the counter seemed uninterested and slow. No greeting, no eye contact, and they were not confirming orders. We asked for no pickles and got pickles. We asked for fresh fries and got ones that had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp. They were cold and soggy. When we asked politely if we could get fresh fries, the staff member sighed and walked away without saying anything. We waited another five minutes before someone else brought them out. There was no apology.
No one was checking on the dining room at all. We needed napkins and ketchup but the dispensers were empty. We had to go back to the counter and wait in line again just to ask for some. Staff were standing around talking but not cleaning, not refilling, and not helping customers. The drink station was out of two drink options and the ice was low. Again, no one was monitoring it.
The bathrooms were not much better. The floor was wet, paper towels were all over the counter, and one stall had no toilet paper. It matched the condition of the dining area. Cleanliness is basic for a restaurant, especially one that serves families and kids.
McDonald’s has standards and this location at Meadowvale Town Centre is not meeting them. Fast food should be fast, clean, and consistent. This was slow, dirty, and poorly managed. I’ve been to plenty of other McDonald’s locations that are kept up well, so I know it can be done. This one felt understaffed and unsupervised.
Until they fix the cleanliness and service, I will be avoiding this location. Dirty floors, dirty tables, full garbage bins, and poor service are not worth it when there are other options nearby. Management needs to train staff, schedule proper floor checks, and make cleanliness a priority. One star because zero is not an option.
