- BDBurzin Daruwalla3 days ago1.0Very disappointing customer service – Markham Mall location This is not the first time I’ve experienced this at the Swiss Chalet Markham Mall location. In fact, this was probably the third or fourth time, which is why I’m finally making the effort to write a review. Every time I come here with a young child and an older family member, we seem to be completely ignored by the wait staff. There is no eye contact, no acknowledgment, and no one comes over to greet us or even tell us that someone will be with us shortly. Today was no different. We waited for approximately 25 minutes, along with another family who was waiting in front of us. That family was also complaining about exactly the same issue — the staff would not acknowledge them or even come over to seat them. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the restaurant was virtually empty. There were plenty of empty tables, yet nobody bothered to acknowledge the customers waiting at the entrance. Eventually, I had to approach a waitress myself and ask why we had not been seated. The explanation was that they were “busy” and had to clean tables. That simply did not make sense when the restaurant was largely empty and there were plenty of available tables. This is a basic customer-service responsibility: acknowledge customers when they walk in, greet them, and either seat them or explain that there will be a wait. Ignoring customers standing at the entrance for 25 minutes is unacceptable. Unfortunately, the food has also been disappointing, so there really isn’t much positive to say about the experience. After having essentially the same experience three or four times, I have to say that this location has some of the poorest customer service I’ve experienced at a Swiss Chalet. Something clearly needs to change in how customers are welcomed and looked after.We decided to leave from there without wasting our time any further and so did the family in front of us. It’s a loss of business for the owner but don’t think the wait staff even care. Very disappointing and, frankly, a completely disgusting customer experience.

She came to our table to check on us, asked how everything was and had a nice conversation with us. She was very friendly and made us feel welcome, not just like regular customers. The food was good and the service was also very nice. Anna is doing a great job and she really makes the experience better. We will definitely come back again!
