  This was the best option in Oakland airport for lunch for family of 5. Three hour layover and I am spilling the tea on Oakland airport Subway. I got a choice between a few 6” sandwich loaves sitting out on the counter with the slicing knife cord on top… I assumed the 6” bread loaf on the counter used to make my sandwich was from previous order. I let it slide because all the meats are sitting out anyways and they probably used the other half of my bread for previous order before mine. Even though no one was in front of me. There were two older ladies working and one dude. Dude stopped in the middle of making my Husband’s sandwich to answer his phone but he did come back wash his hands and put new gloves on. *****The manager in blue button down shirt wearing photo ID lanyard with a “beer belly” literally shows up and pours a beer into a Subway cup right in front of me behind cash register! Then he proceeds to sit down and drink it with his buddy who he handed a beer still in bottle. Manager arrived and was working behind counter and immediately starts drinking beer on the job! He got up counted and handled cash placing it into a bank deposit envelope pouch. Manager starts to walk away back to his beer then turned around and washed his hands. I could see he contemplated the hand washing by the expression and hesitation on his face. But zero hesitation to take a couple bottles of beer on the job! Free perks, lol. I got a 6” turkey sub sandwich for $8.69 and paid $9 total in CA tax 10.75% plus a service fee tax. Total for 5 subs $66. When we were landing at Oakland airport lol that was the first thing I was thinking about California taxes! *****Recap… Dude wasn’t even interested in making our sandwiches as he was waiting for manager to show up and started talking on his phone in the middle of making my Husband’s sandwich. AND *****Managers should obviously not be drinking beer on the job. I was seated in the dining area next to his table so it was easily visible to see Manager opening the bottled beer Blue Moon and pouring beer right behind cash register into Subway cup. I don’t care if you’re just making sandwiches in the airport or picking up a bank deposit - you should never be drinking on the job! *****Subway corp this should be “Automatic dismissal” for manager working (clearly handling cash and talking to customers behind register) while pouring AND drinking beer IN FRONT of paying customers. Gross.

  Avoid this place—dishonest pricing practices. Be very careful when paying here. They asked me to swipe my card twice, and I later discovered they automatically added a tip to my total without my consent. When I confronted the staff, they didn't seem surprised at all, which suggests this is a common tactic. They even asked multiple times if I "really needed" a receipt—likely to hide the extra charge. It was only $3, but it’s the lack of integrity that is the real issue. Check your receipts!

  This was a very popular spot among travelers due to the fact that a lot of the prices that I seen are a little more closer to a Subway on the streets and the fact they also take coupons such as $6.99 meal deals. There's a little sitting area they have included and I believe they also serve pizza. Service looks like it's very quick especially with the amount of customers and lines that they have.
