To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a complaint about the treatment my family experienced at your store on September 10, 2025, involving cashier Jennifer. My elderly and disabled mother asked Jennifer for help using her EBT card at checkout. Instead of assisting her or seeking help from another employee, Jennifer responded in a rude tone: “I don’t know, I don’t have one of those cards.” She then went further and insinuated that my mother’s EBT card had no funds, telling her she would need to find another way to pay. Jennifer stood in front of my mother with her arms crossed, waiting impatiently for her to find another payment method. Thankfully, the employee bagging the groceries intervened, correctly pointing out that my mother did in fact have funds on her EBT card and that the only remaining balance was for the dog items. This demonstrates that Jennifer not only treated my mother with disrespect but was also wrong in her assumption. Jennifer’s disrespectful, condescending, and dismissive behavior was unacceptable. The way she treated my mother came across as discrimination against a disabled and elderly customer simply because she was using EBT. My mother left the store embarrassed and hurt, which no customer should ever have to experience. I ask that this incident be taken seriously and addressed promptly. Employees should be trained not only on how to properly process EBT transactions but also on treating all customers with patience, professionalism, and respect. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate a response regarding the steps Albertsons will take to prevent situations like this from happening again. Sincerely, Virginia Calixtro
