20 ot of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Safeway is the worse grocery store I've ever experienced across 4 states! I have NEVER even imagined the issues ive had with this store! And at EVERY location! Its not specific to one or even a few!. Dont bother wording groceries there. Out of 6 pickup orders over the last year, ive only gotten 3 with no issues. And I mean ISSUES! like I should up at 11pm to pick up groceries wait25mins then get told they cant shop my order due to lack of staff and I cant talk to the manager because hes on lunch. So youre telling me that, my order which was the last of the day and you flubbed making ne drive 20 mins then wait 25mins AFTER MY PICK UP TIME to tell me you're not going to fill it and your MANAGER didnt shop thr order before his lunch!??? Today! I check on my order before heading out and it says cant fill order reschedule for beofre 1pm tomorrow. Its 430pm. WHY CANT AN ORDER BE FILLED!?? What type of company is safeway! AWFUL! Why have grocery pick up??? There are stores that dont have it. You clearly arent intelligent enough to grocery shop and delivery to a car so you should just stop and stop pissing customers off also. Pathetic this store has so many bad reviews, like they just dont care at all.

Wasting my time was not a part of my consumer agreement. One cashier and no self checkout? Line 10 people deep. After 20 minutes, i did the math. You guys cost me more in time than the item i came to purchase. Thanks a lot. Well, at least you guys are making record profits! Your up 15% this quarter! Good for you! Bring back customer service.

I am writing to formally report a deeply troubling and ongoing experience I have had with one of your cashiers, Jerome, at the Safeway store
During a past visit, when I was purchasing alcohol, Jerome questioned my age and asked to see my ID. I fully cooperated and provided my valid identification, which he even asked another staff member to recheck. Although the process took quite some time, I understood it was part of Safeway’s policy, and I eventually completed my purchase.
However, since that incident, every time I return to buy alcohol, Jerome continues to treat me in a highly disrespectful and unprofessional manner. He repeatedly shakes his head, smirks, and examines my ID multiple times in front of other customers — even though he has already verified it during several previous visits. This behavior has now occurred at least four times and has made me feel humiliated, singled out, and extremely uncomfortable.
At this point, I genuinely believe that Jerome’s behavior may be influenced by racial bias or discrimination, as there is no legitimate reason for him to repeatedly act this way after confirming my ID multiple times. His conduct goes beyond ID verification and reflects a clear lack of respect and professionalism.
I fully understand and support Safeway’s responsibility to check identification when selling alcohol. However, mocking customers, using condescending body language, and showing possible racial prejudice are unacceptable behaviors. If Jerome truly doubts a customer’s ID, he should follow proper procedures — not engage in repeated public disrespect.
I kindly request that Safeway:
1. Investigate this matter thoroughly, including reviewing store surveillance if available;
2. Provide additional training on customer service, professionalism, and anti-discrimination awareness; and
3. Ensure that all customers are treated equally, with dignity and respect, regardless of race or background.
Thank you for your time and attention. I trust that Safeway takes potential discrimination complaints seriously and will handle this issue appropriately.
