  The food was truly exceptional. I especially loved the lamb—it was perfectly cooked, tender, and infused with delicate, well-balanced spices that elevated every bite. The wine selection was equally impressive, offering a beautiful variety that paired seamlessly with the flavors of the dish. The owner and all the staff were warm, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Compliments to the chef for such a memorable culinary experience. Highly recommended.

  Akbar has been around for a long time. I first ate here at the Santa Monica location (now closed). Now returning almost 15 years later, it didn’t disappoint. We went there for lunch on a Thursday. The owner JC is very personable and accommodating. I asked for his recommendation on fish and he gave me the fish vindaloo spice level 4 with a side of garlic yogurt. My wife ordered coconut lamb spice level 3. We shared some herb naan and paratha with a side of lotus root dumplings. Everything was delicious. The spice level was a religious experience. After 3 bites of the fish I traded off bites with the yogurt. The flavors were rich and clear. Turmeric, ginger and garlic, coming through as clear beacons of flavor. My 2.5 year old daughter even licked the garlic yogurt bowl clean. Highly recommend if you like bold flavors and spice. We’ll be back. 🤌🔥🌶️

  I have only one request for all of you: don't go to this restaurant. The food is so unhealthy you'll get sick from eating it.

  This is our go-to Indian spot, or at least was. Foods still ok, although I will admit that’s even diminished. But first, I’d like to say Charles needs someone to give him a compliment because it sounds like he hates his job. It’s not my fault y’all changed your menu to cater to people trying to save a few dollars. How about the loyal customers who prefer having rice with their curries. Makes sense to tell them you changed it on the menu. Doesnt it? And when speaking to charles, he decides it’s better to avoid taking responsibility and blames the “no rice” orderers… Charles, you are doing a good job. I hope you have this job forever.
