I can’t believe it took me 7 years of living in Downtown LA to finally experience Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar at LA Live—but I’m glad I finally did. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place lives up to the reputation people have been talking about for years.
The atmosphere is one of the first things that stands out. It’s the perfect blend of cozy and upscale, with a laid-back vibe that makes you feel comfortable whether you’re out for a casual dinner, happy hour, or a business meetup. Being right in the heart of Los Angeles, the energy around LA Live adds to the full experience—especially at night when everything is lit up and buzzing.

You can tell they put effort into the quality and presentation of their food. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and well-portioned. Definitely a spot where you can come multiple times and try something new each visit.
The service was also on point. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations and made sure the experience felt smooth from start to finish.
What stood out the most to me is how this place manages to feel like a go-to local spot while still being in such a high-traffic, premium area like LA Live. After living in DTLA for years, I’ve been to a lot of restaurants, but this one definitely earned its place as a must-visit.

I made a reservation on 3/22 for 7:00 PM on Saturday (3/28) to celebrate my dog’s birthday. They even reconfirmed it with me on 3/27.
On 3/28, when we were on the way, there was an event nearby and parking was far, so I called ahead to let them know we might be about 10 minutes late. That’s when they told me they actually had no available tables for that day, and all dog-friendly seating had been booked for a private event.
I told them I already had a reservation. All I got was a “sorry,” followed by them saying there were still plenty of tables available if we didn’t bring the dog.
Seriously? I made this reservation specifically to celebrate my dog’s birthday, and now you’re telling me not to bring my dog?
I then suggested transferring my reservation to the Torrance location. The staff member put me on hold to “check with a manager,” and we waited for about two minutes. Meanwhile, they left us a voicemail from another phone saying they had transferred our reservation.
But it turns out it wasn’t actually a reservation — they just added us to the waiting list. By the time I was driving there, my name had already been called.
In the end, I never received any follow-up, explanation, or apology from the DT location.
A pet-friendly restaurant — or honestly, any restaurant — should not treat customers like this. There was zero advance notice. If I hadn’t called, I probably would have shown up and only found out
