If you’re looking for a spot that truly understands comfort food with flavor, Gritz N Wafflez delivers every single time. From the moment you walk in, the energy feels warm, welcoming, and full of personality.
The food? Absolutely hits. The grits are rich, creamy, and seasoned to perfection, and the waffles have that perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Every bite feels intentional, like it was made with care, not rushed or generic.
What really sets this place apart is Jurni, the owner, she is truly the sweetest. I’ve visited the establishment many times, and the experience is always consistent. I’ve also had the pleasure of hiring her for a sponsored event, where she executed tray-passed service for 100+ guests during a live taped show with audience members. She and her team handled everything seamlessly, with professionalism, efficiency, and great energy.
The presentation, the service, the quality—it all reflects the pride she puts into her business. Whether you’re dining in or booking for an event, you’re in great hands.
Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for good vibes and even better food.
I stopped by Gritz N' Wafflez with a couple of friends as we were supporting black businesses. The place felt bright and relaxed right away, and the staff greeted us with easy smiles that made the vibe feel welcoming. Everything we ordered was hot and fresh, with generous portions that hit the spot without being heavy. The service moved smoothly even though there were a few tables around, so we never felt rushed. The cozy atmosphere with soft background music made it a perfect spot for a laid‑back morning. We left full and happy and will definitely be back. Omar and Leslie was attentive amazing wonderful people. Can't wait for one to open in Long Beach

I made a reservation for a group of 5 people at 1 pm. Upon arrival we were placed on an additional wait (it happens) but after waiting for about 30 additional minutes, did feel like the reservation bit was a little misleading if we cannot be sat with a designated window of arrival.
Once sat we waited about 5-10 minutes before our server was able to fully greet us and get drinks started. Once our server was out the weeds she would check on us, as well as other staff members to get water refills, see if we wanted to order additional drinks.
Food wise, everything tasted great. I had gotten the catfish with cheese girls in the Cajun cream sauce. Portions and flavors were fantastic, reminded me of the south.
Prices can vary per person because essentially anything can had an add on price. So unless you want just a basic waffle and basic grits, your total per person will increase with any modifications.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and just recommend coming with a group of 2 - 4 to be sat either within your reservation window or quickly after.

Before I get into the food, just know that Omar is the host with the MOST. His energy is so infectious and he truly paid attention to everything. And La lives in LA, but her Texas roots were showing with her customer service and care. Top notch!
But the food??? Baby, I was trying not to look greedy, but I literally cleaned my plate. Everything was so flavorful, from the eggs (get the holy trinity and thank my later), to the French toast (I could drink the peach cobbler topping by itself), and especially the chicken. I don't know what y'all brine that chicken in, but it was elite. Every bite was crunchy, juicy, and FULL of flavor.
This was my last stop before heading to the airport after being in LA for the first time, and I left on a high note. Thank you!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

It was cool. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I was hungry. The savory grits were the best part, they were really very delicious. Tasted like somebody fo show put they foot in lol. I can’t recall which savory version they were, they def had cheese, butter, cream and some other seasonings…. Amazing! However I did not enjoy the fried deviled eggs and I love deviled eggs. Just felt like frying them didn’t elevate what I thought was already an amazing thing. I know they are very popular in the reviews, but I much prefer the OG unfried version. Just my opinion for the ones we were served. My Kiki Palmer peach was way toooo sweet for my liking. And I didn’t notice any tea flavor at all. It was just all sugar. But I know my black peeps love them some sweet drinks. Catfish was standard, fried chicken wings I didn’t care for the thick breading and they weren’t as juicy as I like. Wish we could have tried the fried green tomatoes but they were out. The staff were so friendly. It seemed slightly chaotic but if we needed something they were really tryna make sure we were good. Loved the free valet parking for first 90 min… nice touch! People really do love this place though, it was a full house by 10:30am on a Thursday… yay for them and congratulations! Glad to have supported a black owned business in LA. 💛🙌🏽
